HA! Thanks raucy. It's true, C'mon Sydney - back on the job!
Cheers :D

Just sent our application this week, we are in melbourne... so fingers crossed the sponsorship approval will be done soon and it can be processed in Sydney. I'm just hoping all my paperwork is in order. I didn't write anything on the back of the passport size photos - was I supposed to? I couldn't find info anywhere on this and I'm starting to doubt myself!

Hi Canadayogini!! I didn't sign the back of my photographs either & was approved by the Sydney office within 3 months of applying (outland)!! So try not to worry or doubt yourself too much..you will be fine!! Good luck :) :)

Thanks for that very exciting news raucy, 3 months!!!! eeeeeek!!! That's great, congratulations, I see you have landed, where did you go?

Grr, I got a letter requesting more documents 2 weeks ago (sent them off right away) and now ANOTHER letter requesting MORE documents. So frustrating and time consuming... They're now asking me for a Vic Roads driving history but I've never lived in Victoria so Vic roads won't issue me anything!

Anyone else have send a driving history? I could easily get one from my home state, but they only want VIC??? Bizarre.

Goodluck to those who just applied! Looks like I won't make it for Christmas :(

Oh no Midnightmav!! I've been hoping that you get some great news sometime soon. That is crazy that you have been asked for a Vicroads driver history...I don't remeber having to send anything like that in. I needed it for my police check but that's about it. I would email them to explain that you have never lived in Vic and WTF..hehe. I found Sydney to be really quick in replying to emails...it's worth a try. Good luck & you WILL have it by Christmas....power of positive thinking...c'mon Sydney.

Canadayogini...I am already in Alberta so drove down to the Montana (Carway) border...it was a piece of cake..the US border patrol were hillarious & it took around 30 minute in total. Good luck & enjoy that beautiful Melbourne weather while you can...its freeezing here :)

Haha just got sent an apology! We have reviewed you case and we retract our request for a Vic roads history. Hilarious. Just what I need, more waiting. This is doing wonders for my patience ;D

Any recent applicants to the Sydney office?

raucy - Alberta! Well that's where my heart is! I'm glad it was smooth sailing for you with the border and everything. Did you celebrate? How do you feel now? Does it feel real? I'm sure you feel cold. Brrrr, I hear it's been -40 there recently.

Hey gally, I recently applied through Sydney. Where are you at with your application? We got notice we have decision made letter (for sponsorship) on it's way to us...

Midnightmav... that's awful the extra waiting! I can imagine how frustrating that would be. Have you had any more recent news? I hope it happens soon for you... they've been processing your file for 3 months now right? I thought they were pretty quick...

You know, I only realised this week (like a month after I submitted everything) that I didn't do the vicroads thing or get police check with fingerprints (I did the name check only)... because I never saw the web page that gave wonderfully detailed instructions on how to get an Australian police check. Don't ask how... but I just missed it. So it may delay my application a little (doh!) but hopefully the checks will get to them before they even open my file and they can match it.

Hi Canadayogini - Decision made, all the best!
Im preparing my application, hoping to get it sent next week.

Hello everyone! We're in early stages of preparing our application - but it will be going through Sydney. This post is getting my hopes up about how long this process is going to be... but we won't be able to submit until mid-late January anyway as i have to wait for the marriage certificate... argh. oh well, more time to really make sure we've got everything we possibly can have included i guess (also more time also to stress about it though, argh!)

Good luck everyone - nice to see the quick and successful apps through sydney :)

We're also applying through Sydney for my common law visa. Sent it end of September and just yesterday we just received my Selection Certificate from Immigration Quebec.

I'm actually already in Canada with my partner, at her mother's house in Quebec, on a working holiday visa... juuust scraped in as I recently turned 31!

So I guess it's now turn for Sydney to look at my med results and criminal record check, then our evidence of relationship. If I wasn't immigrating to Quebec the processing time would've been so much less, but you get that!

Not too worried about our application being denied as we already got my partner an Australian defacto visa back in 2007 and I can't see why it should be any different.

Good luck everyone!

So I got my ppr about 2 weeks ago, but was on route to Australia so I needed my passport! Just sent it off last week, so fingers crossed I get it back before Christmas! Then I'll land in January! SO exciting!!!! Finally. The wait is not too bad, I applied through Quebec also, just an added month or so of waiting, but it's worth it right?! Goodluck all :D

@midnightmav - Yeah, you're right about Quebec... It took 5 weeks for the Selection Certificate. Not too bad

LANDED!

It was a pretty slow process, but I'd rather do it through Sydney than anywhere. They made a few blunders with me, but were pretty easy to deal with in general.

Goodluck Aussies/NZ!! ;D
