If you're file is in New York, I would suggest you wait. There is definetely hope unlike us Buffalo folks. NY will get back to you sooner or later.

I do not know the extent of their reach, but I hope atleast to find the reason behind the delay. I will keep you posted.

I have ordered CAIPS notes, which I expect to receive in about 3-4 weeks time; maybe that will give us some indication.

I am a little conflicted about sending them repeat enquires, because mine is not an isolated case. All of us seem to be in the same boat.

You should be able to land first, and your family can join you later. But, I am not sure for how long they can stay away ans still maintain their PR status.
