If you use AVR to come back, it has to be within 30 days. It is very likely you cannot get your card in that period and you have to apply a new visa. I would say try to find a Alberta address for PR card delivery or go with option 2.

If you have a Alberta address, you can apply SIN, but to apply health card you need proof of residence. You have a maximum of 3 years staying outside of Canada for every 5 years period. No medical to do once you got your Canada immigration visa stamp.

Seniors, please correct if the information I provide here is wrong.

What do u mean by "it has to be within 30 days"???? In Alberta i guess they issue SIN immediately correct?? do they mail the card later?? What about Health Insurance?? I heard we have to be there 3months b4 we are eligible to apply is this true?

People whose files are still stuck in Buffalo......Are you guys still out there? Any news???? :'(

As per what i can remember : if you move from outside CANADA, you are eligible for Health Insurance Immediately, but if you move within Canada(from 1 province to Alberta) then you have to wait for 3 months. Please also cross check this.

Hi Chigirl,

Yes were still here.... did your lawyer sent an inquiry in your behalf?

My lawyer said they would wait till the first week of February and then send an enquiry. :(

I haven't heard anything. Looking at some of the other cases in Trackitt, does not give me too much hope.

when was your last inquiry?

First week of January. Got the same standard reply. I don't want to be sending too many enquires, but at the same time this is getting very frustrating.

Hmm I see, is it bad to send too many inquires, i mean an inquiry each month. Can you reply to my first post of today?

I am a little conflicted about sending them repeat enquires, because mine is not an isolated case. All of us seem to be in the same boat.

What should we do? file stuck at buffalo.

I have ordered CAIPS notes, which I expect to receive in about 3-4 weeks time; maybe that will give us some indication.

I am just hoping that the lawyer would be directly in contact with the consular officer or ambassador or something regarding the delays.
