    US-based applicants, let's connect here

As long as it has your name, address, etc... to show that it belongs to you, I'd imagine you'd be ok.

Definitely use a broker, I did mine over the phone instead of a site. Took the lowest of two brokers... I got a copy of my driver's license record showing how long I've been a licensed driver, and also letters of experience from my insurance agency. These brought the rate down tremendously.

Selling your car in the US vs. importing it into Canada

I agree with trackgal1, lots of hoops to jump through and paperwork, inspections, etc... My insurance went from $112 per month in the US, to $156 a month in Ontario. My car is pretty old at this point, 8 years old, but in great shape and I'm planning to keep it for a few more years. My wife's...

Form B4 (Goods to Follow/Accompanying List): How to ???

Very true, I left mine on the US side rather than deal with it and have to show the paperwork

    PR for Native Black American

Agree to disagree, there are people who flee their own countries, even though they are the same race/ethnic background as the leader of that country. Canada simply doesn't set asylum policy based on such information. The issue is that the US is a designated "Safe Country". So any American...

    PR for Native Black American

Good discussion, I've just spent a few minutes reading through the comments here. There are a couple thoughts here that have no bearing on anything (such as Obama being elected) as Canada does not set it's immigration policy based upon such information, so it's not relevant. The statement that...

We used photos from Walgreen's for our PR cards, and photo's from Sam's club for our COPR photos. My wife's 1st Walgreen's photo was rejected, but mine was fine. We used Walgreens a 2nd time and all was good.

Form B4 (Goods to Follow/Accompanying List): How to ???

I recently did exactly that, after 8 months, they seem to be pretty strict with making sure the only items you're bringing in are included on the list. I wouldn't purchase any long term, or expensive items until you come back if you didn't include them on your list.

Form B4 (Goods to Follow/Accompanying List): How to ???

Yes you need to have your "goods to follow" list with you when you do your initial landing, and it will be stamped. Then you'll need it again when your items actually arrive.

No clue, next tax season will be my first year doing the US/Canada tax thing.

Travel Daily to USA with Canadian PR

I've had to do it, pretty simple really. Make sure you have all the documents they'll ask you for in your hand ready, I'd also recommend getting a Nexus card, it will save you lots of time crossing back and forth each day. Get your car imported and plated ASAP, otherwise every once in awhile...

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

This was at the Lacolle Border crossing.

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

That's actually exactly what I did. I called the border, the officer told me the same thing, so I kept my car with me in Canada. After the 72 hours, I crossed to the US, and went to speak with the officers to complete export process, no problems. I'm not saying anyone else should do that, but...

The landing will be fine as long as your didn't utilize a provincial nomination program, that might generate questions. If you went through a Quebec program, then you'd be better having your landing destination be in Quebec. If you did general express entry then you're good anywhere outside of...

I had the same trouble, I downloaded and app and used a Canadian number, to call the CIC number in Canada and it was a lot easier to get through.

Can an express entry nominee land in Quebec?

If you want to make life easy, and stay with your sister in Laval, I would land in Ottawa. It's on the Ontario/Quebec border, and only about 2 hours drive to Laval. You can also land, and then catch the train (ViaRail) from Ottawa to Montreal station, and have your family meet you there. If...

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

My car isn't yet registered, just imported so far. I've been told that since my speedometer shows both, that no change needs to be made to it. I imagine that even if that needs to be changed, it would be pretty minor and inexpensive.

I don't recall doing a drug or smoking test. Possibly being asked if I smoke though.

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

That's the only change my car needed, it was a bit less that 240, like 237CAD.
