The point i would like to say is.. holding Canadian PR doesnt mean, you can go to or live in USA easy- depend to the passport you holding on at the moment. If i werent Canadian PR but having USA Visa, surely i can go to US :)

Agreed with @PMM Become permanent resident Canada, doesnt mean go freely abroad as Canadian citizen. Again u have to refer to your passport. I (Canada PR) went to USA with my husband- Canadian citizen, he free to go but i need to apply visa 1st

Single status affidavits? U should contact Canadian embassy and your original country embassy in the country you are going to married. My husband is Canadian citizen got similar named certificate of no impediment (in my country) from Canadian embassy
