hi!

im currently visiting my fiancee' in canada on a TRV, my visa will be expiring early next year 2018.

my fiancee' wanted me to permanently stay in Canada and get married as soon as possible.

what are the implications in extending my TRV if:
we got married first while my TRV extension is being processed

or should we just process an Inland PR application after marriage. Pls enlighten me.

As my knowledge, after married, you need to stay together for a year till you can apply inland PR.

Hi

The validity of your TRV is irrelevant to your stay in Canada. It is your visitor status that you need to maintain. When did you enter Canada?

You can get married and submit the sponsorship/OWP app whenever you want.

???

This is wrong. There is no minimum time that a married couple must live together before applying inland.
My friend (Asian) married with Canadian in Canada and applied for PR inland. Her application rejected 2 times and till they met with IRCC staff. Got explanation tht they need to wait at least a year

Only a guess and others can comment but am guessing that in their application the VO was maybe not convinced the marriage/ relationship was genuine based on the application documentation in front of them. So no number of applications or interviews after the initial application would likely change that impression hence imposing a year requirement.

There are a lot of "friend" stories on here; generally, I tell people to take them with the tiniest grain of salt because "friends" don't always tell the full story. I'm going to guess that your friend either misunderstood, heard that from someone such as a lawyer/consultant or she didn't want to tell you what was actually going on with her situation/refusals and so made that up as an excuse.

In this situation, it is the lack of information on the website that you need to go by. Nowhere in any part of the guide, manuals or IRPA does it state that a married couple must live together for a year before applying inland.
