    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

They contacted me exactly 23 days (not business days) after I sent in the Constancia. They sent me (applicant) an email titled "Passport request" and they're requesting my original passport, my current visitor record and the address where I intend to live in Canada. And that's it! They didn't...

    certificate translation????

You just did! Hee hee~ I'm not sure about the state one, but only send what they request. If they request only the certificates send them in like that without translations. It shouldn't be a problem since they accept PGR certificates without translations.

    mexican marriege certificate help!!!!!

Hi wooera! Huron's right. You should follow exactly what the guide says. A simple photocopy of the original marriage certificate and a certified translation of it will suffice.

Yes, PR is valid for 5 years, then you just have to renew the card (you don't have to go through all this hassle again thank God). You could have a tamale and atole or pozole or enchiladas in my behalf, oh my God how I have been allucinating about those things... But then again you can do that...

    certificate translation????

No, it does not need to be translated. You need to submit only what was requested in the letter they sent you. Lucky us! Cheaper in the end..

Yes, you can bring it personally to the embassy. They're open to public from 9-11 Mon-Thu, so if you get it on Thursday you'll have to hurry unless you want to stay until Monday. I suggest calling PGR on Wednesday as they might have it ready before you expect. Mine was ready in 7 or 8 business...

    Mexico

I did! I sent a simple one, with my signature, my husband's signature as a witness, and a photocopy of our ID's. My mother signed her part in Mexico and took it like that. We didn't notarize it/legalize it. They accepted it like that, it was no big deal.

    difference in name

The PR card has to match the name on you passport. If they will eventually change the name on your passport I suggest getting the PR card as well, and your name to be consistent in all your documents. Your passport has to be updated before the PR card. Hope this helps!

    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

Like jendrian said, I think you should just do as they say and send it in. I would definately add a note/letter explaining that you're currently in the US. I'm guessing they know that you can't travel without your passport and they would send it back to you in case that an interview is needed..
