visitor visa for wife. Still waiting...

There is a possibility your PR application will not succeed. In that case, will you be more motivated to stay in Canada or return to your country to citizenship. If they think you would rather stay in Canada, then they will not want to give you a visitor visa. At any time when you visit Canada...

    Let's share our landing experience

Make sure you go when the immigration people are there. We were going by the border at 10:30 at night and decided to stop at a place where we didn't have to pay a bridge toll, but the immigration officer only stays until 10:00 at that place. Also, if he's busy with someone else at quitting time...

Question PR sponsor for wife and children

You can ask for a visa for her children, but I'm guess there is a good chance it will be refused. From what I remember, many wives and husbans applying for PR from the Philippines ask for visas and seldom get them. I'm not sure about the kids. Outland application (you can be in or out of Canada...

JANUARY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants - Join here

We were going to do a "conjugal partnership" application, but we took so long we became common-law and had to re-do a bunch of stuff, then more things happened. I will write it all out eventually and post it here.

You still might get a birthday present tomorrow. You never know when that status will actually show up. We're invited to a BBQ by our MP this weekend, so we look forward to that. (It looks like it will happen during a break in the rain, so hopefully the rain will be timed right.

JANUARY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants - Join here

I thought we were close to applying in January 2010, but it kept getting delayed while we tried to gather material for the "perfect" application and we didn't finally send it until January, 2014, so it took us forever. It's still hard to believe that it's finally complete. CIC causes a lot of...

JANUARY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants - Join here

Congratulations on the DM! Somehow it still doesn't get any less stressful until you have that paper in your hands. My partner finally got his PR card this week and his driver's license (there were complications on his U.S. license) and his health card came the same day as well, so everything...

JANUARY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants - Join here

It's a good sign. When Ottawa changes to that status, it means they are actually processing it. They usually don't change to that status until they have everything they need, so they'll probably make a decision very soon if there are no further complications. It's likely that you'll hear...

    CPP-Ottawa

You might want to ask the advice of a Commissioner of Oaths, but none of them are going to commission the form without him present. What I think you should do is fill out the form electronically, and send it to him by email, so you each have a copy that is identical. His will only have his name...

Every province is different when it come to provincial matters like driver's licences and health insurance, etc. In Quebec, you absolutely can't get a driver's licence without at least a visitor permit that allows employment. (Also, I think it might have to be a year long.) Also, I managed to...

You never know. We sent our payment the last week of November and got a "decision made" the last week of March.

    Problem in Completing Requested Documents

Did it say, "Please submit all requested information immediately. No other reminder will be sent to you. If you fail to provide the requested information, your application may be assessed on the basis of the information that we have and I may refuse your application."? If so, that is just a...

Ottawa told us we had to mail it to Mississauga, so we printed it out and sent it to Mississauga and also sent it by email to Ottawa. I asked for clarification but they never replied. (It also send to send the CSQ to Ottawa and the RPRF receipt to Mississauga and that they both MUST be in the...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Lately, people have often been getting only about 2-3 weeks between In Process and Decision Made, sometimes even less. About the 16 months, you have to remember that that is a more or less "worst case scenario." Everyone doesn't take that long by any means.

    Decision Made....

It mostly depends on how long first class mail takes to get from whichever office is processing your application and your place. Sometimes they will mail it 2 or 3 days before or 2 or 3 days after the "decision made" date. In our case, it wasn't even printed out until a few days after the DM...

    message from cic

We applied for a visitor extension recently and my partner got several emails that his app was updated but he couldn't see anything different. I think it's normal. I wouldn't be worried at all.

    sponsoring much older husband

I'm 54 year old man with a 38 year old same-sex spouse and we got approved. That's not quite as big an age gap but still a substantial gap. I think the thing that would look very suspicious would be if your ages were reversed because there is a strong disapproval in many cultures of men...

Remove website access to my application status and address information

In theory she could use that to track a PR card request in the future (though they don't seem to put that information in there for many people). Also, if she applies for Canadian citizenship, she could check the progress of that application through that site, but if you remove website access...

    Common Law Partner Visa: Outland/Inland

No, they definitely don't have to be on a form, and the less they look like a form letter, the better. The best thing is to tell your friends and family the kind of information you want them to include (how long they've known you, when they learned you were in a relationship, why they think you...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I've been told that something like 1% of U.S. applicants, maybe even less, have to do interviews. Oh, and essentially, the main "field office in the U.S." is now in Ottawa. That was put in place as a pilot project when the Buffalo office was closed due to government cost-cutting a couple of...
