Which VFS? In my opinion you should defer your start date to the next available intake as it is improbable that you will receive an answer by 2nd Jan 2019.

It is really strange. When you enter Canada for the first time you are issued your study permit and work permit at the POE. You can get your SIN number by visiting Service Canada it is not issued at the POE. What is the course and it's duration that you are enrolled for?
