Since the Canadian Consulate Jeddah recommended the same, I would say that is probably the right path. I didn't do it, but I still got my PPR without any issues, Alhumdulillah.

Thank you! I read it over and over again as well, it is indeed just a PPR. We didn't do anything special or extra, but my wife was extremely careful in filling out the application and making sure all the documents were inline. All credit goes to her for her hardwork.
