You can still apply for anything but not to come back to the country with the work permit for specific employer if you are not going to work for that employer.

Once you live Canada you might have the difficulties to return. So betters stay here until you have different work permit or another status.

Just go for your biometrics ASAP. after biometrics are done they start processing your application. you can ask for the login passwords and be able to see all the statuses of your application in your account.

there is no option to “just put the UK”. You don’t even have this option in drop down list of countries. Only England, Northern Ireland etc
