Applicant thinks a baby will help his chances

I would be surprised if he got one at all but the sponsor technically has until the moment he lands to cancel the sponsorship although doing it before the visa was awarded would be preferable. She should do it ASAP and get on with her life.

Do you mean to say that you were refused 5 times for a Canadian PR visa in the past?!

I would say that the first rung of people who are considered Commissioners of Oaths in Canada are those that are considered such by virtue of their positions. So that's legal clerks, lawyers, notaries, mayors, clerks, municipal officials, the Secretary General and Justices of the Peace. So go to...

This bit of advice doesn't get repeated nearly as much as it should on these monthly threads that focus on the first step in the process. I realize that 2 months is a long time to wait but people need to realize that depending on their VO and their luck, they are looking at 2-3 times (and even...

I think you're thinking of the inland process here, during which you do have the right to work after sponsorship approval. Sponsorship approval takes close to a year though. For outlanders, you need to have landed to start working unless you have a work permit. You'll likely need an LMO to get a...

No problem. Ask him or her - but I think that would work. Something better might be to ask your accountant to sign off on it since several of the questions have to do with combining your affairs tax- and finance-wise.

Wow. I don't think I've seen that before. So they've not made a dent in the Jan. 3 files after a week?

They are rare (if we're talking about FC files at Buffalo. Buffalo also processes the FSW and provincial nominee program streams). Most would not be on the basis of suspected marriage of convenience but something like inadmissable dependent, inadmissable due to health, or inadmissable for...

Oh, well then it's good that you became aware of this when you did. The statutory declaration asks for a signature from a Commissioner of Oaths, which described anyone belonging to a professional organization, so you would be able to do this with the assistance of someone like a chartered...

Once they approve the sponsor the PR portion is transferred immediately to the VO via government courier.

If you read bbiery's previous message, you'll see that he was asked to send in the Declaration of Common Law Union, which needs to be notarized. If you're not in a common law union, you don't need to worry about this.

    Sponsoring husband from Morocco

Congrats Dair, it looks like things are moving along smoothly.......now go get some sleep! I don't buy the claim that they "sit down together with each application and decide if person x should get a visa or not and why." I think there is one decision-maker per file at the visa offices. I've...

Just goes to show, it's better safe than sorry to include it even though you're also including proof you are...

I wouldn't worry about it. You're very likely to get approved as a sponsor anyway, and in fact they may already have made that decision by the time your letter arrives at CPC-M and is united with its parent file, so to speak, so it would be kind of pointless. You don't need to meet an income...
