    Spousal sponsorship

A TRP is used to overcome a determination of inadmissibility, including "unlikely to leave". This is a common issue for young children and a TRP is a mechanism for overcoming it.

    CPP-Ottawa

Got an email from CIC requesting proof of my husband (sponsor's) residency in Canada. Guess in our haste to pull together all the other required documentation this slipped through the cracks! Hopefully this means at least that they are looking at our file :) In case it's helpful here's what...

DECEMBER 2013 OUTLAND APPLICANTS – Join Here!!!

Neither good nor bad news (I hope): we received a request for additional documents from Ottawa. Guess in our stress to provide all the necessary documentation for everything else, we forgot to provide proof that my husband actually lives in Ontario! Oops! I believe this means they've at least...

    Spousal sponsorship

Thanks. Is the TRP even useful in a case where the reason for denial of entry falls under "failing to prove your intent to return to home country" or is it only for cases such as medical, police, misrepresentation, overstaying etc.

Proof of sponsor's intent of returning to Canada

Hi All I had was letters from family and friends, my Canadian bank account and my Canadian credit card. I explained that there was no way that I could commit to a lease/job/school until I knew my partner's visa was approved, as I wouldn't be returning to Canada if it wasn't approved. It was...

Do we need to live in Quebec?

As proving your intent to return to Canada is one of the more difficult parts of an outland application, I would think it's best to avoid complicating that step at all and just say your plan is to return and settle in Québec. Once he lands as a PR, he can live wherever he wants to in Canada...

    Disabled Sponsor, Sweetheart in Togo

Thea, i think your very best bet is to bring your sweetheart to Canada as a visitor. Live with him. And then, if everything is still perfect you can get married and sponsor him. If he is accepted, the visitor visa will probably be 6 months long. Thats enough time to really get to know him and...

Do we need to live in Quebec?

Do you plan to stay at all in Québec with family when you move back, perhaps just at first until you get your feet under you? Or do you plan to settle somewhere else immediately? It may be *slightly* easier to prove your intent to return to Québec, as you already have ties there and can have a...

    Feedback appreciated

As the others have said, this will be an issue. You are required to prove that you intend to return to Canada permanently in order for your spouse to be granted PR. When a person has been living outside of Canada for several years, CIC usually requires fairly solid proof of the intent to return...

URGENT HELP: CIC is not satisfied that my sponsor intends to reside in Canada

I think the immigration officers who looked into your application was already expecting your wife to be in canada because you only showed her contract that expires in 2013. So maybe the best you could do is to show the immigration officer about her latest contract and an affidavit or letter...

    MARCH 2014 OUTLAND APPLICANTS

You mean my wife's intent to leave Canada at the end of our vacation? Well, she has a history of visiting and leaving Canada every summer for the last 6 years. We are both resident in a third country where we work. There is no particular reason for her to stay in Canada, her spouse is outside...

    MARCH 2014 OUTLAND APPLICANTS

I think i read just a few pages back, people on here are renewing and extending their trv's while PR application is in process. You should have no problem Gumby. One question I have for you: how did you explain and prove the intent to return to country at end of stay?

    APRIL 2014 OUTLAND APPLICANTS

That is untrue. CIC will not cancel your app if you're abroad during the sponsorship, as long as you're a Citizen. You may just have to prove intent to return to Canada once the applicant receives PR status. Lots of people apply and stay outside of Canada with the applicant.

Re: Can I sponsor while being overseas? Yes, Canadian citizens are able to sponsor while living abroad, PR can not. However you will need to show some proof of your intent to return to Canada and settle once you sponsor your partner. Examples are given in the CIC guides online and the topic...
