There is no timeframe for a TRP. It depends very much on the visa office, but don't expect it to have the same kind of time as a TRV.
Thanks. Is the TRP even useful in a case where the reason for denial of entry falls under "failing to prove your intent to return to home country" or is it only for cases such as medical, police, misrepresentation, overstaying etc.

Also, if someone can lend me some more advice please,

With all this waiting, I looked over all our forms again and saw a huge mistake possibly. In form IMM5669 question number 6 there is a question for the applicant "have you ever been denied entry to Canada or any other Country". My wife checked off NO, which was true at the time we filled the forms, but we did apply for TRV to USA this past Christmas for a 3 week vacation at my parents home in Florida. The thing is, I paid all the fees for the application in november and most of the forms were signed and dated around that time as well. Is this something that can be corrected by calling CIC? We mailed in our application in March and I can't remember if we have an old date or if we signed a new copy of form IMM5669 with a date signed in January, which would mean that we have a "lie" on that form! As the sponsor, I have not received AOR yet and our application is still in Mississauga. If we call to ask for a change of answer on a form, will they send it all back? Should we just mail in a new IMM5669 with a detailed explanation of change of answer? Will that further delay my AOR??? Don't quite know what to do!

Any suggestions are welcome please...

more experienced users correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the question refer to denied entry at the border? Koifish, did your wife get the TRV for USA and got denied at the border or her visa wasn't approved from the beginning?
i don't know, maybe i understand the question wrong. i'm also curious about this.

This could make more sense actually. In that case, no, she was not denied entry at the border. Her B2 tourist visa application was denied.

Can anyone else confirm that we have the correct answer, NO, on the form???

It actually asks

e) been refused admission to, or ordered to leave, Canada
or any other country.
As no request to be "admitted" was made of someone who had the authority to refuse admission, I would think that "No" is correct as well. A visa application could fail for a myriad of reasons, many of which would be non-prejudicial. (Like forgetting to sign it, for example).

A TRP is used to overcome a determination of inadmissibility, including "unlikely to leave". This is a common issue for young children and a TRP is a mechanism for overcoming it.

Need to ask for passport from Canadian Embassy New Delhi

Hi All
Ive joined this forum hoping to get any kind of assistance from you all, with your respective knowledge and experience with the Canadian Immigration Process.
I have applied from outside Canada, as my wife is in India and im here in canada.
I was approved as sponsor, and her file was accepted by New Delhi consulate on 5th September,2013.
On 10th November they sent us a mail asking for us to submit her passport.
2 weeks back we got a mail saying it has not yet reached the stage of initial review.
My question ;
My wife is an Educator and has to travel to the USA for 2 weeks, But the passport is still with the Canadian Embassy in new delhi.
1) Is it a safe bet to ask for the passport back, knowing that initial review has not started
2) What is the process for submitting request to get passport back?
3) What is process of re-submitting it again ?
4) Are there people here on this forum whove had this situation before?

Would be grateful if any of you could provide any guidance.

Ok ok Thanks and I'm probably just worrying about nothing, but I would like to add that she had an interview and the officer at the US embassy denied her the visa.

This is not considered "refused admission"??? Just refused application ... And these are not one and the same, am I correct?

Thanks computergeek. If you don't mind, could you post the link where you found this information? I couldn't see this in the directive from the last link you provided and have spent over ten hours reading about TRP (most of it searching for quality and informative subject matter on the topic, including visitor visa-permits in the other sub forum).

I feel like they are one in the same.. refused admission in a general context means not allowed in.. no matter how you applied... temp visa rejection, rej at border, ect... just my opinion.. i checked off yes as my hubby was not given a TRV to visit me as they thought he would not return after his stay...

I had a feeling I would get mixed answers. Haha. Thanks though! I will do some more research to see if I can find a clear definition of this question.

The "simplest" answer is say "Yes" and let CIC figure it out. However, I'm not convinced it's the "right" answer.

The controlling manual is OP 20 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op20-eng.pdf

You may also find OP 18 (evaluating inadmissibility - also known as ENF 2) useful: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/enf/enf02-eng.pdf
