This time line has been 16 months even before the strike. It's just a safe timeline. I have friends who have had their application approved in 2 months from Ankara... They are known to be one of the fastest embassies in the world.

I had you in mind because I know you submitted your application in April like me! I know I will be checking all the time now so if I see ANY movement, I will let you know!

I emailed the Embassy just to see where things are at and if they are still processing during the strike. This was the reply: "Dear Sir/Madam, The Visa Section in Ankara is currently being affected by strike action. We process the files but our processing time will be longer than usual...

You will have to apply for a Temporary Resident's Visa and then a work permit in your home country. You cannot apply for a visitor's visa and a work permit. It has to be the TRV because if you come on a visit visa you will not be permitted to work. I hope this helps you.
