I just completed my virtual oath! There were about 140 people (I believe she said) from 39 different countries. I'll still be here for a while, since we are waiting on my wife's LPP and oath.

Hi did you got the instruction letter to download the e certificate??

No updates in the tracker after the ceremony and my e-certificate isn't available yet.

Actually my ceremony is "not started" so I am wondering it will be updated to "in progress" and then I can receive an email. Am I correct?

I got the instructions long ago. But the portal still doesn't have my certificate available and it says to check 2-5 business days after they received the signed oath form.

I got my oath invitation email the day before the tracker updated oath to in progress.

I never got a reply from my oath form upload. I realized this morning usually I get an auto-reply when I emailed them, but I got nothing. Thinking it was a problem with the attachment, I emailed them without the attachment to ask if they got it, and I got an auto-reply. So that made me think even more there's an issue with the attachement.

I had used a 3rd party tool to compress it since it needed to be below 1000KB. I used my mac to "print to PDF" that PDF, creating a new one, still under 1000KB. I sent it again to the email, but again received no auto-reply.

At this point, I don't know if the auto-reply doesn't happen if there's an attachment or if my attachment is getting blocked.

I googled and found someone saying they uploaded it via the web form, which I thought was a really good idea. I went ahead and did that as a backstop. They won't be able to say they didn't receive it within 48 hours as required, since that goes straight into GCMS.

So, I'm confident it'll get resolved one way or another now, with the web form. I got an email acknowledging the web form upload/message as well.

I don't know how big the original is, but since you're using a mac: in Preview you can use the tools>annotate>signature to 'sign' electronically (if you haven't recorded an electronic signature there, you'll have to use the manage signatures option under signature to do so). Advantage of doing so is it doesn't change the size/composition of the file much.

*The instructions in the online oath invitation specify you can do this, although it looks like the instructions are for (an older version of) acrobat reader. I just tested it with acrobat reader and it's basically the exact same functionality, but (ignoring the IRCC instrctions because outdated) in Acrobat you have to use the "E-Sign" menu, but it works exactly the same as Preview. (Could IRCC care or check that you used preview? I dont know)

IRCC says you have to take a picture of your signature and copy/insert that (rather than draw with a trackpad or mouse). I don't know how they'd be able to tell but both programs have that camera functionality (I think, too lazy to check reader).

I did a test with Acrobat and it came out as 300kb instead of your 1000kb, I guess because not scanning/compressing the text.

If, of course, you feel like trying again.

My test also came from Niagara, and LPP date is March 13. The last time I called IRCC they said case is now with Vancouver office, so I guess a month waiting until I call them again. Not many people getting oaths it seems after LPP. Are they waiting for some election results or what?

They offer 2 options. One is scanning or taking a picture of the physically signed form. The other option is taking a picture of your signature and then using Adobe (or presumably Mac) tools to insert that signature into the form and then saving it.

I did the former using the PDF scanning capabilities built into the iPhone notes app. It automatically crops and deskews it and everything. It looks basically as good as a scan. Since it's high-res though, it was about 3 megs, so I compressed it using ilovepdf.com (they have lots of free PDF tools that I've used extensively).

At high quality, the compression brought it down to about 600 KB.

Perhaps there is a mismatch between our declaration and the entry/exit records they obtained from CBSA. I've never been this confused..lol
