Hi guys,

I need some help. I applied for my husband without sending police clearance. I have written a letter to them that I will send when i receive it and attched proof that I applied for it. Some people are saying they will return incomplete applications. I am worried now. Do you guys suggest I send a new application rather than waste time waiting to return the old one as "incomplete application".

Thanks in advance.

No-one knows. Certainly no point in withdraw-and-reapply until you get the PCC.

Some here have had their apps without PCC accepted and just request for PCC after AOR.

You could also try sending PCC through webform before AOR - they will attempt to match the submission.

But it could still get returned. No way to know. I'd be inclined to 'let it ride' but up to you.

What do you mean by ongoing? If she's in the process of obtaining PR then I believe she can't have more than one PR application. But if she just has an EE profile and was not invited to apply yet, then that should be okay.
Yes, she was invited to apply in 2019 and is in the process. So, does that mean she can’t have more than one PR application?

Sorry that was bad information from my part. You can have two applications at once, as long as they are in different streams. So you should be fine to have the sponsorship and FSW together at once. But note you will have to pay costs for two applications until one is finalized.

Hi, I was filling form 5533 and there's this section for Employment:

"If you're working in Canada, provide an original letter from your current employer stating your period of employment, salary AND one of these issued by CRA: most recent Notice of Assessment or Proof of income statement (Option C)

If you are not working in Canada, provide other documentation showing that you can support the person you are sponsoring."

So my question is: I moved to Canada as a PR in January this year and I'm still working for my US employer from here since I've a work from home job. So, what option do I select and what documents should I provide in this section?

Need some help with my spousal application.

1. My wife came in on a student visa, but overstayed (not intentional) and was advised by a lawyer to apply for a TRP. The TRP was denied, but by then we were already planning to get married, so we went ahead and got married. Our marriage is less than 6months and we are looking to submit her application soon. Are there any things I should pay special attention to?

2. Also, because she is now out of status, can I apply for an Open Work Permit for her alongside the PR Spousal application?

3. Please, if you have dealt with a similar situation or know someone, kindly share your experience and pitfalls to look out for.

Many thanks to you all for your support.

1. Given her history in Canada, you want to put together a strong application with strong proof of relationship to make sure IRCC doesn't have concerns if the relationship is genuine.
2. She can. However she won't qualify for the OWP until she has AIP. This means she likely won't be approved for the OWP until close to the very end of application processing.
3. Strong relationship proof. I assume she is not working. If she is working, she should stop.

No....IMM5476 use of representative is an optional section so no worries at all. Just wait for a while ones they start uploading your file into the system if you did paper application....so keep calling the call center and ask them if there is any update on your file by providing them with your name, UCI and date of birth and see if they've started working on your file with a temporary file number which starts with XF0000**** or XG0000 etc...Everybody must have a temporally file number because at this point, all documents submitted are checked to and analyze to see if they are in order, signatures have been appended, fees are paid, NOA is added etc and if the document checklist is complete which is the initial stage, then they will deem your document as complete and it's assigned AOR(acknowledgement of receipt) and the original file number is given to you like this....They will only remove the first XF000226688(temporary file number) and it becomes like this F000226688(Original file or application number)....Everybody is assigned a temporary file number at the initial stage where every officer or representative can see what you've provided so when it gets finished, you can call and ask them to add or submit your Use of representative or at any stage so don't be troubled about it at all....You can send it anytime.....

And mind you, the use of representative just gives you access to the PA's file number on her/his behalf but all responses are addressed in the PA's name anyways....At times, use of representative is of no use.....

It becomes useful when you use the services of a consultant or a lawyer to stand in on your behalf when you don't know much about the technicalities and rules of engagement in IRCC, other than that, the PA will still be communicated to by IRCC anyways.....So, wait on here and relax your muscles....send it anytime you want and they will still add it.....

It is an optional file that's while it is always at the bottom!! Hope you good now?

Cheers!!
Hi @efie , thanks so much for this response. I find a lot of satisfaction and relief reading this. Thanks for easing thoughts of people like me who are in the dark and lost in uncertainty and anxious as ever. I sent this to my wife as well and she is thankful for this response. I really hope we get the AOR soon. But feel a little more confident now, going in to the next few weeks.

Thanks & God bless!

my spouse applied for the us diversity lottery visa several years ago, and remembered about it recently, would we need to declare this information? His application has been in process since 2020. He never kept up with the application, and didn't get it.

No issues provided you don't take social assistance. EI is fine. Just don't take welfare / social assistance.

What should I answer to this question - The person I’m sponsoring was declared as my spouse and was already examined as a non-accompanying dependent when I applied for PR. (Note: If you have never applied for PR, answer no)
She has her own separate FSW application where she later provided marriage certificate after we got married, but she was never declared in my PR application coz that was long back and we were not married then.
