Travelling after sponsorship approval

This is regarding an active outland sponsorship application. The sponsor is a PR and NOT a citizen of canada
Once sponsorship is approved can the sponsor travel out of canada for a few months?
Since the approval is already done do they check if the sponsor still physically resides in Canada?
Does it cause any issues to the application?

Sponsor must reside in Canada. Short trips (eg less than a month) are okay. Longer risks the app just being cancelled - appeal unrealistic, start over.

Do they check? They certainly can. Not clear how often or how assiduously they check, but sometimes they do.
