He says his country is no longer concerned about COVID, no news headlines about it etc. That doesn't sound like our South Africa, does it?
Hes right...only the government and our captured media are still concerned about the flu...our people however are not and their doing fine...more than fine because of: "Nkosi sikelel' iAfrica" maybe? lol.
Oversupply of vaccine doses since Q3 of 2021 and the uptake has beeeen struggling to get past 40%...doses expiring, truth is most South Africans just aren't interested in taking the jab. Theyve chosen to put their immune systems to the test and it seems like for the time being until they mandate them, our government is saying "oh well, may the best immune system win". Even I may or may not have taken my 1st job myself...
So I'd say things are pretty back to normal now lol

Hey @ImpatientKangaroo - can you think of one good thing about Canada?
Yep, many. Newbies like you don't know me much but I've mentioned before that my ultimate dream is finding a good job in Alberta so I can have my own house on my own land. AB is a perfect fit for me culturally and politically. I could have something similar somewhere in rural BC if I could find a job. Once I've secured a good job, purchasing power is not all too bad in AB. I could buy whatever car I wanted after building my house on my own land. I love prairies and AB has so many of them.

So basically I could finally live a good mix of southern and northern NA life in AB I've been dreaming of.

I have been watching this thread and the thread before that for months. I ain't exactly a newbie. You can think of me as The Watcher from the Marvel comics.

How would you compare this dream to say - living in the US or a utopia like Germany or the Nordic countries.

Haha well technically Trevor's not a native English speaker either. He grew up in South Africa's largest black township in Johannesburg and his native language is isiXhosa. He picked up his really cool accent like most of us non-white English speaking South Africans from what we call 'Model C' or former "whites-only" schools.
Ohhh and Elon Musk!!! He must be native then.

Eh... US would be my second choice but I wouldn't be all that excited to be living in the US because US has a good share of its problems too and very serious ones at that with direct social consequences that I'd personally feel. EU on the other hand is safer than the US both economically and socially but culturally boring to me.

So my ranking would be AB > US (probably Texas or Nevada or that general area) > EU for overall living. For career alone, it is exactly the opposite.

It is not about keeping hopes alive - this is reality, applications started to be processed :)

Recently on one of the fb pages I saw a post when someone was crying that new applications will be processed in parallel with the old ones
