Lol which South Africa, the one in AFRICA? Lol....allow me to chip in real quick... As a born and bred South African...take it from me that most South Africans, 50 million of us, are not native English speakers. We have 9 official distinctly African languages (Afrikaans is NOT an African language) spoken by the African majority and then we have the other 2 settler languages, namely English and Afrikaans spoken by <10 million people of European and to a lesser extent Asian origin. The Majority really only speak English in a professional setting or when they have to interact with the non African minority which is usually only ever in a professional or commercial setting.
Oh interesting. Didn't know that. My previous boss was from South Africa, he has an accent but he is a native English speaker.

Thanks for getting into it :D . I'm not sure why it's thought that majority SAns are english speaking. Agreed, both English and Afrikaans are part of the 11 official languages but only for political correctness really. More indigenous African languages are prevalent and Zulu seems to be the most widely spoken. I lived in Gauteng so picked up mostly Zulu and Sotho. The only Afrikaans I know are what my kids teach me when I help them with their homework :).
Ohh I can explain that... Probably Trevor Noah.. He's from SA and he's got real cool accent.

Haha well technically Trevor's not a native English speaker either. He grew up in South Africa's largest black township in Johannesburg and his native language is isiXhosa. He picked up his really cool accent like most of us non-white English speaking South Africans from what we call 'Model C' or former "whites-only" schools.

Based off of Jayce's clues a my own observations , he definitely is...and now that I think about it, If he quacks like a duck...
He says his country is no longer concerned about COVID, no news headlines about it etc. That doesn't sound like our South Africa, does it?
