The main appeal of the graduate stream is that allows you to apply for PR without one year of work experience and as long as you have a job no matter what kind, just have a job and you're good to go.

But if you also meet CEC requirements and we don't know if it's gonna have less processing times, then it's just gambling with your future. On top of that, it looks like this pathway won't issue BOWP so if processing takes a long time and your work permit expires, you're fucked because one of the requirements is to be employed both at the moment of the application and when you receive PR.

Exactly, let's say the process takes 12 months or maybe even more, and if your WP is expiring before that, then you cannot work which according to the rules set, makes you ineligible.

I really hope they clarify. PNP programs, for example, give you a closed work permit for 2 years because processing takes 2-3 years. What if this program is the same? Many people appleid for PGWP extensions, but even those only went up to 18 months.

Okay but also the PGWP extension policy will probably be extended too, that's currently until July 27 for expired and expiring work permits (if your work permit expires before November 27 you can extend it by 18 months). So if they just give that policy some more time, then most people can extend it.

Oh yes, there are definitely good sides to the program! I don't want to trash it completely. But it's not as awesome as he made it seem. Mainly because it's so confusing and you have to do a mindreader to guess what you'll need to have. Not to mention the whole language test thing.

Okay, after meditating for a bit the no- BOWP policy can either be a very good thing or a very bad thing. If they won't issue any kind of work permit in lieu of the BOWP, that could mean they're either expecting 4-6 months of processing times...which is very optimistic, since only simple CEC applications get that timeline nowadays and that's under "full-capacity" processing or a really bad thing as they basically might neglect applicants under these streams and leave them on their own to figure out their immigration status.

But wasn't it in one of the news articles where they said they are hiring more officers to accommodate? the budget announced is related I believe..

Yeah but that takes time, and there's already a huge backlog for other apps too.

According to that youtube video, the guy was like there's going to be a running count of submitted applications and I can't think of anything more scary.. like you type in your first and last name and the count is at 32,000 already o_O

Training new officers takes time, and there are certain processes that take a while to complete no matter what (security, criminality...) these new streams have a big allocation that might even be met during the first month. I can't see how IRCC could manage to process 90k applications before the year is over.

100%, there's a huge change this can take atleast 12 months. IRCC still has other streams of PR under public policy to process, I don't see anything special for this stream.
