No, that's a very good question. He tried to spin this program as awesome, but it's actually confusing and not particularly great in certain ways.

Also, what about employment gaps? My wife works on a semester to semester basis. She is not employed in July and August. But she will be employed in May and again starting September. Furthermore, the official rules (so far) don't mention this.
I'm hoping they lock the application as soon as they receive it, sort of like they do for Express Entry. It makes sense to ask for the applicants to be in Canada when the application is approved because the COPR has an expiry date I believe.

But asking everyone to remain employed, during a pandemic, is a bit too much. In your wife's case, I wonder if a letter saying she will start work again in September will suffice? But then, that just increases processing times. Just have to wait it out for the guidelines I guess.

The crazy thing is that someone maintaining valid status will depend on how quickly the payment gateways get back up. IRCC is really underestimating how frantic the next few weeks will be on their systems. I bet there will be ridiculously crazy traffic on their websites over the next few weeks.

Bound to happen, they should've atleast set out guidelines, gave us checklists for forms etc. Rather wait till May 6th? That'll be a disaster lol.

Not sure if anyone's looked into this, but IRCC says there's no Bridging Open Work Permit under this stream.

so when should we get the reference letter? If we get it before May 6 it doesn’t show that we are employed at the time of application. If we get after May 6, it takes time and we might not make it.
Just get it from now, reference letters need not literally be the same second of application and include pay statements too.

The main appeal of the graduate stream is that allows you to apply for PR without one year of work experience and as long as you have a job no matter what kind, just have a job and you're good to go.

But if you also meet CEC requirements and we don't know if it's gonna have less processing times, then it's just gambling with your future. On top of that, it looks like this pathway won't issue BOWP so if processing takes a long time and your work permit expires, you're fucked because one of the requirements is to be employed both at the moment of the application and when you receive PR.
