Also, what about employment gaps? My wife works on a semester to semester basis. She is not employed in July and August. But she will be employed in May and again starting September. Furthermore, the official rules (so far) don't mention this.
But asking everyone to remain employed, during a pandemic, is a bit too much. In your wife's case, I wonder if a letter saying she will start work again in September will suffice? But then, that just increases processing times. Just have to wait it out for the guidelines I guess.
