Hello all,
New member, though I have been reading lots over time. Sent in my package for my USA husband Oct 20th and just received email that I have a UCI number now. I have a question about changing status though. (quick back story, we have been married 9 years, I went on K9 Visa to marry my husband and lived with him in the US. The plan was always to come back 'home' to Canada, but he had a daughter he was raising and wanted to be in her life. Skip to me moving back home first, to get everything ready so that he could join me and we do family class visa. )
We were slowly getting paperwork ready, but hadn't sent it in yet, and in that time, I went blind in a freak accident. So we put in paperwork as soon as we could, Oct 2020. Of course with Covid, there was no visiting back and forth like we usually did, and being thrust in a new world with my sight loss, we asked questions from a lawyer of the chances of husband moving here to be with me while we waited for paperwork. (we waited for him to move once the borders were opened back up for family) We knew that there would be a tricky chance that he could be turned away and not let in due to him "staying". So he took our full package (copy) with him with the payment receipt for immigration, and a car load full of personal items.
Well, he had no problems at the border (though they did go through the package thoroughly ) and the reasons were that we were married long term, and that I needed him because of caregiving. (They did see the receipt of our package to immigration from their computers at the border) They gave him paperwork and told him that he should apply for extension to stay if we didn't hear anything in the first 5months. (he would have to drive back end of June, but we had plans for if that happened) They said not to worry, that as long as he filed for extension, or changed his status and applied for Work permit. (kinda same thing lawyer had said, file for work permit if he got in to stay)
Sooo my question is.. now that I have a number to contact Immigration with, we obviously need to change husbands address to my address now that he is with me. Is there something I would have extra to do to change him to Inbound ? application.. and do a work permit right away? Is the best to call immigration and relay this to them?
Sorry for the long winded post and spelling mistakes. I only have pinhole vision left. lol
As mentioned you can't change from out to inland, you would have to withdraw the outland and file a whole new app. Also he can't apply for an OWP with an outland application. So unless he has to work while in Canada and waiting for the PR you are better off to stay with your current application. Recently work permits have been taking 6-8 months to process. Things appear to be getting processed quicker in the last few months. You might have PR before he would get the OWP if you withdrew and reapplied inland. Obviously your choice.

Submit a web form with his address change, that isn't a problem.

I have a question about my medical. I received my medical request awhile ago(3/19), but when I made my appointment, last thurs (4/8) was the first available. How long will it take for them to send my test results in? I have about a week before my 30 days from request come, am I ok? They also gave me a sheet and said they'll ask me to upload a form, this is the form you upload. Do I send this via webform now or do I wait for a request to upload it? Do we have any idea of timelines after medicals? I still haven't received anything for biometrics :(

You'll have to check with the panel physician's office. Where we did it, the office took the photos themselves on the day of the medical.
Thank you, I called them. They asked for the country where we live in (Ph) passport size. I might call them again to be sure tho hehe!

Almost everyone on the October spreadsheet have AOR. This is getting me more worried. I just don't know what to do. I feel hopeless
Don't worry, everyone getting their AOR means yours is definitely on the way. You might be like me where you'll receive your AOR and your SA at the same time, they seem to be doing this a lot lately.

If you are really stressed about this (I know I was), ask your local MP to call and ask about your file, it's a service they offer.
