I have received my COPR which is expiring in March 2020 and I am all set to land as a single applicant.
Slight change of events I have marriage prospects now with someone who has a British passport.
We have two options that we get married in FEB and not go for sponsorship now as we intend to live in UK for sometime
Second option I get married after I come back doing my soft landing ?

I eventually plan to settle in Canada startin 2021 where I want to sponsor my spouse for citizenship. Meanwhile in 2020 my spouse wants to sponsor me for London.

Please suggest which is better and will not affect my PR in Canada as I certainly wan to land in Canada in March 2020 and at the same time are there any implications for sponsorship in UK ?

If you get married before landing, you must return your COPR to the visa office and add your new spouse to your application including providing your spouse's PCC and medical. IRCC will then process this information and issue a new COPR to you and your spouse showing you as married. The processing for this typically takes around 4 months to complete once you get married and submit all of the required paperwork to IRCC.

If you want to land in Canada in March 2020 - then you will need to postpone your marriage until after landing.

Hi Scylla,
My marriage is on 27th Feb 2020 and my COPR is expiring on 22nd March 2020. I've a tight timeline here. If I inform CIC about the change in marital status soon after my marriage, how are the chances of getting my application re-opened by CIC?

Regards,

hi i got my COPR before marriage raised webforms to communicate the change. However no response from IRCC till date since June 2022. My COPR will be expiring in November end 2022, hence i am worried what to do in case of no response.. should i let it expire or do complete the first landing procedure.
please help if anyone has info on this...
