Well, neither of those examples are concrete evidence of cohabitation. Do you have lease docs with both names? Joint utility bills? Letter from landlord/neighbour/family? Things mailed to both of you with same address? Anything showing you actually live together from at least a year ago until now.

I have 2018 notice of assessment for my wife for the address we were in Toronto.. joint bank account statements with same address .. since we moved to vancouver we have lease document effective july 2019.. and we have bc health card mailed out to our address with letter .. etc .. since all the utilities were included we never had any bills on my name either ( only land lord) ..i submitted a letter from cousin who is a citizen of canada.. as proof of relationship..

Are you saying you already submitted all of this or have all of this available? As for no utilities, include a note explaining why you don't have that. Maybe ask your landlord to attest to it. Letters from family specifically attesting to you living together. Pay stubs with addresses?? You can't send too much. Just wrack your brain for anything and everything!

I'm sure it will be fine. I think sometimes they just need to do due diligence in having everything on file. A lot of people feel like they've submitted plenty but are still asked for more. I guess just keep everything very specific about living together as opposed to other ties like finances. Good luck! Likely the final hoop you'll have to jump through :)

Expert guidance required once again...

Procedural Fairness letter received this morning for Proof fo cohab since 5th march 2019.

My wife is working on a project in Vancouver and then visited me on March 28th -April 20th.

Then came back May 17th - and since then we are together as i moved from Toronto to Vancouver with her ..

We have :
1. Joint bank statements showing Toronto address till June and Vancouver address since july

2. Lease agreement since July

3. BC health cards showing Vancouver address

4. My drivers licence showing Vancouver address.

5. My Canadian citizenship letter showing Vancouver address.

6. My toronto lease agreement showing me living at the same address since 2017.

7. I have a copy of Ontario drivers licence showing the same toronto address.

8. Me and my wife’s Notice of assessments of 2018 showing same toronto address.

And besides this i am planning to write an explanation with flight tickets for travels.

Any expert reviews if these are enough to explain?

Hi all,

I have a specific questions regarding sponsoring my Japanese wife as a permanent resident.
To briefly explain our situation:
I have been living and working in Japan since 2011 and I was married to a Japanese national in 2015.
In a couple months I plan to move back to Japan once my employment obligations have ended and seek employment once again in my home of Toronto.
My wife will be moving with me and she has been to Toronto already 3 times. I believe Japanese citizens can enter and stay in Canada for up to 90 days but I could be mistaken. During that time she plans on applying for permanent residence as my spouse.

My questions are as follows:
1. Will she need to start the PR application procedures locally in Japan before coming to Canada or can it be done once arriving in Toronto on a tourist visa?
2. Will she need to purchase a return ticket back to Japan (or proof of onward travel out of Canada) or can she enter with a one-way ticket?
3. Since I do not have a guarantee of employment but plan to be living with my family in Canada, I cannot prove that I can guarantee financial support of her once arriving. We both plan to seek work however once we are settled back in. Would it be wise to wait on applying?

Thank you to anyone who can provide more information on this matter.
I have messaged the respective visa office in Manila which handles these matters for Japan but they have yet to get back to me by email after 2 days. Hopefully I can find some answers here.

Good day everyone, I have some questions. I have tried to do my own research but it seems I'm being confused by a lot of different sources saying different things (or maybe the same thing in different terms that's just confusing).

My fiance and I are getting married in May. I have a job here in Canada (citizen),she is a US citizen.

1. Can I sponsor her if she comes her after we get married, and apply from within Canada and get a work permit for her? I am confused on this as I read that it has to be outland but I'm reading on this forum info about inland which seems to have been omitted or neglected on other sites.

2. Government of Canada website mentions 'apply under "Family Class"' what are the criteria to file under Family class versus just applying for my fiance as my spouse? What's the difference?

3. Would living with relatives be frowned upon as not being able to financially support my spouse? I live with my grandparents currently to save money, but moving out is something I'd do once I get married.

I apologize if this has been answered before, some of the info here is fairly dated (or at least the original post) so I just want to clarify in case things have changed over the past few years.

Not really sure how best to approach this whether to have my future wife come in as a visitor and apply here and just stay here, or apply from the US. Any tips or disclaimers or "hey watch out for this" would be greatly appreciated.

1. You sure can sponsor her as Inland and with applying for OWP, however suggest you to read upon that because as inland applicant she won't be able to leave Canada during the course of application.
2. Spousal Sponsorship falls under Family Class. you will find all the details on this link which will come very helpful in preparing your application:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp
3. Won't make any difference. Spousal Sponsorship also doesn't have any minimum earning requirement. You will be ok as long as you're not living on any welfare.
Goodluck!

Received a prearrival letter today. Is it just a formality? Could our application still be refused ? Or does it mean we are on the right track? Any info is appreciated

It means your eligibility is approved and they anticipate a successful app. You could have anticipated this when they told you at interview they believe your relationship to be genuine. That was the major hurdle. Yes, it could still be denied but is a good sign.

Thanks for your reply. They asked.for further documents from us which we have a month to send to them. Then we got the prearrival letter. So I guess that's good news.
