Hello Everyone, I had a question about the supporting documents for Parents and Grandparents sponsorship. We have been invited to apply under this program for my parents, however, I am not sure which documents for Principal Applicant and Dependent (my mother and father) are to be attached with the application. Based on the guide it seems to be:
1. Their Passports
2. Their Marriage Certificate
3. My birth certificate
I am allowing CIC to access my CRA records so NOAs are not required. is there any other document which is required?
Also, apparently my parents are not able to locate their marriage certificate, is there a substitute for the marriage certificate? They do have names of each other on their passports, which implies that their home country/ govt. recognizes them as married.
Also, has anyone gone through this process earlier? One of my concerns is that, are the documents like my parent's educational qualifications asked by CIC for the next stage of the application process? Obviously, they did their schooling etc. long back so they may not have all the records (degrees, transcripts etc.), so if I declare a certain level of education on the forms, do I need to have supporting documents for those declarations?
Thanks for all the help,
HM
Hello HM,
Please make sure that you are aware of the deadline date as it is May 25th for most of us so just confirm and submit your application before that date as there are not many days left.
As per the document check list you are supposed to submit:
1. All the required application forms,
2. You canadian citizsenship cardor PR card or canadian passport
3. Photocopy of your marriage certificate if your spouse is co-signer
4. Spouses canadian citizsenship cardor PR card or canadian passport
5. Your birth certificate
6. Copy of your parents passports both
7. Your parents marriage certificate
8. recent photographs of your parents( refer to the guide)
You can find more details in the IMM 5771 Document Checklist for,.
So if they don't have their marriage certificate then:
1. Either they can get a new marriage certificate ( you can register your marriage at any time) but if it is time sensitive then
2. Provide a LOE that why you can't provide their marriage certificate and provide other supporting documents like
a. Their passports showing their names
b. May be your educational documents showing their names as mother and father
c. Affidavit from them stating that they are married and showing marriage date
Now about the educational docs, you should only say what ever doc you have or you can provide if asked doesn't matter if they have done engineering but if you only have doc. for 10th then you should say that their qualification is 10th otherwise anyone can put anything without providing the actual docs.
To me its not a very important factor that they are educated or not as their education is not a selection criteria but you must only record things which you can prove at later date.
Again as everyone says here , i'm not an official immigration agent so just give it a thought and see if this make sense to you.
Good Luck.
