Hello all,
Today I was lucky enough to receive my passport request!

This might be a silly question, but I just wanted to make sure of something - don't want to do anything silly at this stage!

The letter I received said I could use this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/visit/visas.asp to find out if I need a visa in my passport, and if I DO need a visa, then I should send my passport away. However, the tool isn't very clear (or it might just be me not thinking clearly from all the excitement!).

I'm from GBR, so I know I need an ETA. Does this count? So I would assume that I DO need to send my passport away?

Also, do I send it to the London office, even though my appl
UK passports only need to send a photo copy of the requested pages, we are visa exempt, a ETA is different from a visa

Thanks for your time!

Like Hunks mentioned, UK passports only need to send a photocopy. If you require an eTA that means you are visa-exempt.

Anyone processed in Mississauga will get a PPR from their actual VO they would have otherwise been processed at, because Mississauga does not issue COPRs

I didn't even see the bit about the VO, it's been that kind of day!

One more thing....
The PPR letter says visa exempt applicants can upload photocopies of passport via myCIC... but when I log on to myCIC there's no option to upload. It actually still says my background checks are still in progress! I know myCIC and ECAS can sometimes be out of sync. Will myCIC probably update in the next couple of days?

Also... am I right that I just send photos to London, since I can upload (hopefully) the rest to myCIC.
Will London just send me the COPR in the mail? Do I need to include a self-addressed envelope?

Sorry for so many questions! Just want to get it right!

I just tried... but it wouldn't let me add any rows...

Share it here in detail and I will try to input it for you :)

DEPRESSED!!!

So frustrating... my background check has been held up for 7 weeks because they now want a police certificate from Afghanistan where I did some work years ago. Afghanistan, one of the most corrupt and bureaucratic countries who doesn't have a formal process for foreigners to obtain a police certificate. It just cost me $600 to try and get some sort of certificate from Kabul and I don't even know if immigration will accept it.. So I continue to wait and continue to spend more money to get my PR. If they don't process this soon, they will probably next tell me that my medicals expired or something

Hi @killborn - did you live in Afghanistan for more than 6 months? Is that why they are asking for more documents?

I read somewhere on the forums that if you attempt or show proof (reciepts) or email correspondance of trying to get a background check from countries that dont produce these documents - it can also qualify - maybe someone else can also add to this discussion?

Any updates?

Well it's the end of the road for me folks, COPR received today and plan to land on February 5th. So happy and relieved :D

Hi everyone, just wondering if I can get a little help please.

I'm a Dec applicant (British) living in London with my Canadian wife. We're hoping to move over to Canada in September and so we can manage our notice periods (both 3 months) we are going to head over in Sept even if we don't have DM yet, and worse case I'll have to wait a few months until we get this (knowing the risk).

I just wanted to triple check I'm allowed to do this - I've read up on entering under duel intent etc but would I be able to get the final approval (assuming everything goes well) to an Address in Canada? I'm just wondering if it's a case of changing my address on my file. If I need to keep it as a UK address I'll have to change to my parents as I'll have to moved out of our rented flat.

Our App is pretty straightforward so hopefully that keeps us within a 10 month window but I understand it's a bit of a lottery. Any thoughts would be really appreciated! We just want to do it this way so my wife has a little control over applying for jobs etc.

Thanks!

(app sent Dec 12 still waiting on Aor1).

You are fine. I applied outland and stayed in Canada as a visitor the entire time. There is no issue with changing your address on file to a Canadian address and no rules against an outland applicant visiting Canada long term. You should make sure to update your address as soon as you move over. Note you need to present yourself as a visitor at the border and don't use the word move.
