Hi @killborn - did you live in Afghanistan for more than 6 months? Is that why they are asking for more documents?

I read somewhere on the forums that if you attempt or show proof (reciepts) or email correspondance of trying to get a background check from countries that dont produce these documents - it can also qualify - maybe someone else can also add to this discussion?

Any updates?

Thanks for the comments. I did spend more than 6 months there, but not consecutively. We would work 3 or 4 months on and 1 month at home and then back again. I did that for 6 years. I did write up a letter of explanation, sent copies of the 7 or so emails I sent to agencies and to the Consulate and spent $600 USD in fees, translations and courier service to get some sort of letter from Afghanistan.. but in all of this, I lost 2 months where my application was just dead in the water. I am checking daily now to see if the right person has reviewed my letter and has continued my background check. Fortunately I was able to apply for a new NAFTA visa and am able to work in the meantime.. but it's not ideal

Hi all,

I haven’t posted for awhile. Our application was received on August 23rd 2017, and we have gotten AOR2 on December 11,2017 saying that our application will be processed in Mississauga. Today when I checked our Ecas, it changed from “application received” to “in process”. However, when I phoned in, the automated machine still says background check has not yet been started.I understand that this stage (background check) takes the longest, but should I be expecting it to change to DM soon? Thank you in advance for the reply.

help with London CoPR please.

any one out there had to send their passport or copy to London Office for CoPR?
it says NOT to use a courier envelope as the return envelope...so do they just send it via regular post?

any advice would be appreciated (:

The principal applicant only receives the pre-arrival letter. Once the sponsor is approved, everything is now on the principal applicant for updates.

Actually not totally correct..although i too thought that until a few days ago..

My partner (the sponsor) received the email to his email account telling us my app was going to be processed in London.

Oh ok. That's news to me. Did your sponsor set themselves up as a "representative" to receive updates? How did you both get the same data? I'm curious.

No idea.. I received nothing about it being transferred.. The letter was to him and sent to his email.

Nope he isn't set as a representative. Found it odd too but I guess I don't care who gets the updates as long as we get them.
