Hello Friends, I have applied for OCI on 31Jan (Toronto). I have submitted Form 7 for Voter ID surrender just before applying for OCI. My voter ID surrender application is still in progress and I am scared about it not getting cancelled before my OCI is processed.

Can anyone please give me some insight about the process? What happens if while officer picks my OCI application, voter ID is still active. Do they check the status before approving OCI? Any comment will be highly appreciated.

Don’t worry and all will be good. But make sure it is done soon. Voter id removal take usually 50 days roughly.

for minor fingerprints, is black ink okay ? also apart from uploading it online (and possibly have it on printed application form), do we need to carry it to BLS on day of appointment ?

I went to RBC. Is there any other bank who makes draft to fit this or any short form if someone used earlier and worked , please suggest.

I got my draft from rbc. They first printed the draft and then wrote the full name on the draft. The guy who was servicing me didn’t know about this, and he asked a senior colleague who helped us out. Hope this helps.

I faced same problem I called BLS call Centre and customer executive told " CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA - TORONTO" is fine and i took the same from RBC and it was accepted.

So you can exclude the word "THE"

Black ink is fine. I used normal black pen and fill the thumb with that ink and took multiple impression. I took best of it.

You need to carry everything.(all uploaded and supporting docs)

for me it took 2 days

For me it took more than 10 days to reach Toronto status

Hi,
Any idea how long it takes for OCI to reach Toronto, once it shows a date for the Dispatched from MEA section? Mine shows a date of 7 Feb as Dispatched from MEA. However, when I search in BLS, it still shows under process.

Now you can see the updated date. I’m waiting from 6th feb. today it shows Toronto reached date. Check urs. Hope ur checking ociservices website and Toronto to BLS 2 days and courier 1 day

Thank you for the reply. I don’t have family in India who can do this, and I also do not have any records of ration card or voter ID. Also, I did try to search in the portal using other details to get the EPIC number, but I couldn’t find any.

Would it be okay if I just submit the declaration form by signing it?

Can you check the website I see multiple states they have website.

Yes. Take original and photocopies from parents ( keep all docs, they are different suddenly they will ask something),Keep all documents they mentioned on the checklist.

My OCI card is under process. I am planning to go to India on e -visa. If my OCI card is processed while i am in India and if ask someone to send the OCI card to India through mail., Can i stay in India for long time even after the Visa stay period expires? or do i need to exit India and enter with OCI card?

Thanks for your response, will try. And can you confirm in the address in form 7, we write the Indian address where the voter id is registered? or present Canadian address?
To answer your question about ration card- my family ration card has been unused for more than 25 years now and expired - so not doing anything for cancelling.

I am in the same situation.
My family ration card from 25 years back which was not even used once.
Never updated and may be expired too.
Do I have to do anything about that?
I have tried searching ways to get the ration card itself deleted but haven't found a way.
When I search with the old ration card number on the online portal it says no data found.

Any responses will be helpful.
