Hello,

I, a Canadian PR, am planning to sponsor my wife from India who is on visitor visa to Canada under Family class - Outland spousal application.

We are expecting our first child in mid September 2025. As she is a visitor, she is without provincial health coverage and we will have the baby delivered in India under the care of her preferred family OB/GYN and our family members.

Question 1:
Would it be wise to apply for spousal application right away and then add the newborn baby as the dependent while the application is under processing?

Question 2:
How would this (adding a dependent later) affect the processing time for the application?

Question 3:
I have full time job here in Canada and I will be making trips to India during the baby's delivery and later, a total of two trips, each trip to be a month long. Would it be wise to take such trips while the application is under processing?

Question 4:
I read that chest x-ray required during medicals can be put on hold if the applicant is pregnant as x-ray is not recommended for pregnant women.
(However, there are anecdotal cases on reddit where applicants went ahead with x-rays in their pregnancies).

So, if the application is on hold until medicals are passed, should my travels to India affect the application adversely in any way?

Question 5:
To avoid putting application on hold and uncertainties around traveling out of country, would it be better to apply for spousal and dependent pr application AFTER the baby is born?

Question 6:
If I apply now and add the baby as dependent later, could you please advise how to add the dependent later in application and steps to go about it and fees to be paid.

Thanks for your replies in advance. Your advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Consent and Declaration

  • · If the principal applicant is 18 years of age or older, they must sign their own forms.
then after signing it with principal applicant , how long it took for to get AOR ?& it said also need to attach a copy of email but can’t see an option to attach.. so PA just signed & resubmitted

Hi guys, received AOR today and I tried to create account for the PR tracker, but even though I am entering the correct info, I receive the following - is it because I should wait a bit longer?

Correct these errors:
  • Incorrect or invalid information. Review and make sure it matches the information submitted on the Use of a Representative [IMM 5476] form or the Authority to Release Personal Information to a Designated Individual [IMM 5475] form. If you can’t create an account, it may be because your client’s application is not in our system yet.

It often takes a few days. I'd wait until Monday.

Hi, I need help with this. I got AOR for my mother with a request to submit PCC, Passport, Updated address, and Email address.

My mother was in the USA from January to July 2024( 7 months), then in Canada from July to January 2025( 5 months), and now just went to the USA 3 weeks back. My mother has a US green card, Indian Citizen, and has Canada super visa. I applied for PR in July when my mother was in Canada and I gave her a Canadian address for her in the PR application. Her case is with CPC Mississauga.

I have the following questions.

PCC:
1.
As per the below AOR, I should get PCC for the current country of residence if they have resided there for 6 months or more. My mother is in the USA but only went there 3 weeks back. however, she lived for 7 months in the USA in 2024. She also has a USA green card. Should I get a PCC/FBI record for the USA?

2.
My mother is an Indian Citizen. As per the CIC website, PCC for India is through BLS. In the USA, I did not find a way to get PCC from BLS. But in the USA, VFS does provide India PCC. Can I get PCC for India through VFS?

Updated residential address:

1.
My mother was in Canada when I applied for PR. But she went to USA 3 weeks back. She has a US green card. She will return from the USA in June 2025. Should I give an update on her USA address? Will it result in her case being moved from CPC Mississauga and result in a processing delay?

2. If changing her address may result in a processing delay then can I still keep her Canadian address as she will still return to her Canadian address in June?

3. If I keep her Candain address, will it result in some issues?
(For example, if I get a medical request and she is still in the USA, will it be an issue?? Or I am taking India PCC from the USA and also taking the FBI record, will they object if I am still keeping her Canadian address?? or do they know from border records that she is not in Canada at present???)

Passport/Travel Document:
1.
As per the AOR letter, I need to provide a passport If the principal applicant's passport has expired or will expire within the next 12 months. My mother's passport has expiry in 2031 and I already submitted it with the PR application. Should I still send it?

FBI Record:

To get a USA PCC/FBI record, my mother needs to give a fingerprint. However, due to old age, she does not have ridges in her fingers and her fingerprints are not readable by fingerprint scanners. Does anyone know what is the solution in this case?

The AOR is below:

In order to minimize any delays in processing your file, the following documentation is required for your sponsored family members. If not already included in your application, please obtain and submit as soon as possible:

•Police Certificate: The principal applicant and their dependant family member (if applicable) must provide police certificates from:
•Their current country of residence if they have resided there for 6 months or more, and
•The country where they have spent most of their adult life since the age of 18 (if different than current country of residence).
Your relative is required to obtain the police certificate from that country’s law enforcement authorities. Please send a copy of the original police certificate to this office as soon as they receive it. Follow these instructions to ensure you provide the correct police certificates: www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp.

•Passport/Travel Document: If the principal applicant and/or their dependant family member (if applicable) have passports that have expired or will expire within the next 12 months, please have them apply for and submit a copy of their new passport with a validity of 12 months or more. Please ensure to include the biographic page of the passport.

•Updated residential address: You are required to provide the current residential address for the principal applicant and their dependant family member (if applicable). You must report any changes to their address, telephone number(s) and email address immediately throughout the processing of your application. Failure to provide updates may result in processing delays.

•E-mail Address: Submit a valid email address for the Principal Applicant and/or their Authorized Representative. This email address will be used to communicate with the Principal Applicant and their dependant family member (if applicable) throughout the processing of their application.

Methods of Submitting Documents
Please only submit the requested information and documents via one of the following methods:
•You may submit your documents via email. Please include “PGP-APR” and your file number in the subject line of the email to: IRCC.CPCMParentsandGrandparents-Parentsetgrands-parentsCTDM.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
•Submit your documents via IRCC secure account (MyCIC) at www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html.
•Additionally, you may send the requested information/document(s) via the IRCC webform at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/web-form.html.

You must report any changes to your address, telephone number(s) and email address immediately. Please note that CPC Mississauga will not update contact information. Changes to your contact information should be made through our online service at www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp.

I was impatient as well. and I ended up linking to my GC key. I suggest let the biometric letter come. which will come in few weeks.

The Primary Applicant - not the one sponsoring - needs to have their own account and submit the PR Application through that. (

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a very strange issue with my PR application, and I’m hoping someone here might have insights or advice.
Here’s my situation:

Before applying for PR, I had already been to Canada and completed my biometrics, so I initially opted not to pay for it again since it was still valid. However, I was later asked to pay, which I did. I received a request for payment, made the payment, sent the receipt, and got confirmation that they had received it. This was back in October.

Then, in December, I received another message asking me to pay for biometrics again. I re-sent the receipt and once again received confirmation. However, this morning, I got yet another request—this time through a different web form specific to my case and region (Abu Dhabi). I have uploaded the receipt once again, but at this point, it has been nearly four months, and I am starting to feel like I’m stuck in a loop.

I’m confused—are my documents being overlooked? Is this a technical issue, or are the agents simply not reviewing my submissions properly?

My main question is: Since I highly doubt that submitting yet another web form will resolve this (given that I’ve already done it twice with no results), what other options do I have for contacting them? Is there an alternative way to escalate this issue, such as calling IRCC directly or involving my local visa office?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

We submitted our common-law PR application on December 31, 2024. I haven’t received my AOR and currently i am enrolled as a student.

Since we have already met the common-law requirements, can I leave Canada and stay in my home country until I receive my PR card, then return once the process is complete?

The inland processing time is 24 months, and the cost of living in Canada is very high for us.

Not if you applied inland. Inland requires you to be cohabitating with your partner inside of Canada. If you want to leave Canada, you need to withdraw the inland application and reapply outland.

hey thanks

So Can I apply for outland common-law sponsorship since my status in Canada is expiring soon?

And we have completed the threshold of 1 year common law union
