Got a bunch of updates.

November 26 test completed.
Dec. 9 fingerprints required.

No idea why they need fingerprints from a 20 year old PR, other than collecting the $85 fee.

It's nothing to do with age but more to do with similarities with a person of interest or for quality control purpose.

I can’t see how it’s possibly necessary since her “biometrics” were collected as part of the PR process.
The biometrics expire after 10 years but they IRCC has an interesting clause listed on their site.

"Permanent resident to permanent resident: Biometrics provided to support a permanent residence application cannot be reused to support a subsequent or new permanent residence application. Applicants applying for permanent residence are required to enrol their biometrics to support every permanent residence application. "

Well it’s maybe 4 years old, and she’s not applying for PR status.

Nobody will be able to convince me that this is necessary.

I can also guarantee that no other person on planet earth has the same name as she does, her mother was quite creative with it.

Biometrics collected for PR applications comes under IRPA. Citizenship applications fall under the Citizenship Act. Privacy Act mandate that biometric data collected for PR cannot be automatically reused for citizenship.

As applicants pay for it and fees goes into government pocket in some or other way they don't have any motivation to reuse it.

Just received fingerprint request on Dec 4 and done today. Not sure when will IRCC receive it as Canada Post resumed the services.
