thanks. i received biometric letter for my parents and not the letter of invitation.
That letter is usually referred as "pre-arrival". It just list the type of services that's available for people who will become PR and that may help them to settle/learn in Canada.
And different office send them at different stage. That's why it's hard to guess what stage your application is at when the letter is received.
anyway, looks like you are at the beginning and got the biometric request. Usually after that would be medical. (or matching medical that's already submitted)

Just got a call from IRCC saying that there's missing documents on my parent's application, apparently they had sent out a letter but because of the Canada Post situation, they decided to call me. Was weird to receive a call but went to the PR portal to check and sure enough the application status is "returned" and it looks like there's an issue with my mother's passport and my father's CV. Will find out exactly what I need to send when I get the letter from them. They said they'd email it to me and I should get it today or tomorrow.

So..update. The dream is over for us. Turns out they had reached out to us on Nov 6 for some replacement documentation. We didn't receive any emails or physical letters. So it's now past 30 days and they've rejected the application.

Hello all,

I received AOR two months ago and received this request today to submit documents for Sponsor, which seems unusual from what I have read here:

In order to process your application, a Case Processing Agent has deemed the following as required:
Important: Please provide ALL the following documents for yourself (the sponsor).
• Contact Information: Provide updated contact information including your residential and mailing addresses, e-mail address (if applicable) and telephone number where you can be reached between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
• Credit Card/Bank/Phone: For the last two years provide original copies of credit card statements, bank statements, and phone bills (including cell phone if applicable).
• Driver’s Licence: A copy of both sides of your current driver’s license.
• Employment/School Letter: For the last two years provide letter(s) of employment or contract(s) from Canadian employer(s), and/or letter(s) of acceptance for Canadian educational institute(s).
• Health Card: A copy of the front and back of a provincial health card.
• Insurance: For the last two years provide a copy of a house/apartment and car insurance.
• Lease/Deed: For the last two years provide a copy of a Lease/Rental Agreement or proof of home ownership (i.e. property deed).
• List of Absences from Canada: For the last two years provide a list of all absences from Canada (including all dates of departure as well as return dates to Canada).
• Passport (Residency): For the last two years provide a complete copy of every page of all passports (including current passports).
• Recent Travel Itinerary: If you have recently travelled outside of Canada provide a copy of a travel itinerary and the applicable ticket stubs.
• Travel History for all Countries: Travel records and/or Records of Movement from all countries for which you have a passport or travel document for the last two years.
• Travel History into Canada: A report of travel into Canada can be obtained free of charge by writing to: Canada Border Services Agency, 410 Laurier Ave. West 11th floor Ottawa, ON K1A 0L8.
• Utility Bills: For the last two years provide original copies of gas, hydro, and water bills.

I wanted to understand why this request may have been made. My employment background (sponsor) could have led the officer to deem me as non-resident (I am a Canadian citizen since 2019) - I work fully remote in GTA and work for a US company. I have only been to US for 2 days in total in last 2 years (was over a year ago) since I am employed here. The previous employments were Canadian companies.

I will try to provide all these documents, but wanted to know what could be cooking that could be used against me (or my sponsorship eligibility).

This part scares me the most: Employment/School Letter: For the last two years provide letter(s) of employment or contract(s) from Canadian employer(s), and/or letter(s) of acceptance for Canadian educational institute(s).

It asks letters only from "Canadian" employer or "Canadian" educational institutes, neither applies to me.

You can only provide what you have. Just send them the information and hope for the best.

Hello Jay, timelines are:
Oct 2020 - Interest to Sponsor sent
May 22nd - ITA received
May 27th - application submitted
July 10th - email to resubmit imm5604e
July 11th - Re-submitted imm5604e
Oct 3rd - I had to re-submit 5476e REP form ( this was preventing me from linking application)
Oct 4th - received AOR and PCC
Oct 19th - Submitted, renewed passport + 2 x PCC for both parents
Dec 12th - received biometric request for both parents
Dec 13th - received letter for Invitation to Pre-arrival services for one parent

hope that helps and as I see here on forum, the progress is all over the place.
Wow that's so good to read and learn.. Congratulations to you and your family! I observed in your timeline that you have also been very prompt, good job!

Oct 3rd - I had to re-submit 5476e REP form ( this was preventing me from linking application) - So you were not able to link the application even with their informaiton? How did you come to know that you had to resubmit the 5476e, was it in the email or you called them and they advised you so?

Hi there, thank you for your post.. if you don't mind could you share the number from which you received the call? I am asking because these days due to all the scams that are going on I do not pick up calls from unknown numbers and sometimes the service provider marks even the genuine numbers as Potential Fraud!

It was a private number

What?! Why did they call then?! Can you appeal it? Please try to appeal it

I have a question. If IRCC sends an additional doc request for resumes or schedule A. We re-send them to IRCC but then IRCC still deems it incomplete will they then reject the application or re-request it because we did send it in on time.

If you did not receive communication from IRCC because of Canada Post Strike, it is not your fault. Once you receive the request for missing documents, write a letter of explanation of extenuating circumstances and ask them to re-open the file. They usually have provisions to consider these type of cases

You may also consider contacting an Immigration lawyer who will work with IRCC to get the file re-opened - this may involve filing for a case with a federal court for a procedural fairness review. However, it might not come to this.

Contact IRCC first and ask to re-open the file; if you don't hear back, contact an immigration lawyer
