Hello Miss Bee,

I have a question, I am currently on a PGWP and i want to confirm do i need to a study permit to take CPA PREP course? I contacted CPA Ontario and was told that i do not require a study permit
If CPA Ontario has confirmed that you do not need a study permit to take the CPA PREP courses, that is a reliable indication. However, it’s important to verify the situation in the context of Canadian immigration rules.
1. Study Permit Requirements: According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), you do not need a study permit if:
The course or program is less than 6 months in duration.
It is not part of a longer program requiring a study permit.
CPA PREP Courses: These are often considered short-term professional development courses. If the CPA PREP course you are enrolling in falls under this category and is not part of a full-length program requiring a study permit, you should be fine without one.

It seems like you’re dealing with a situation that requires careful handling to avoid further delays or miscommunication with IRCC.

1. Repeated P1 Emails for Your Daughters

• Since you’ve responded to the P1 emails each time using the given template, the fact that you are receiving the email again suggests that IRCC may not have registered or processed your previous responses.

• Possible reasons:

• IRCC’s system didn’t correctly associate your response with the P1 request.

• There may be an issue with how the email was sent or formatted (e.g., missing attachments, incorrect subject line).

• IRCC’s automated system may not have flagged the responses as received.

What to do now:
• Resend your response immediately. Ensure the following:
• Use the exact subject line as indicated in the P1 email template.
• Reply directly to the email address provided, without altering the format.
• Attach all required documents, such as a copy of the P1 letter and any other requested items.
• Include a clear explanation in your email body:
“This is our third time replying to this P1 email. We previously responded on [dates of previous replies]. Please confirm receipt of this response and let us know if anything further is required.”
• If possible, CC the webform or any alternative IRCC contact (use IRCC’s webform to explain the situation and attach your response)

• Follow up via the IRCC Webform:
• Go to the IRCC webform and submit a case-specific inquiry. Explain the issue, reference your UCI and application number, and attach copies of your P1 response(s).

2. Why Haven’t You Received PPR for Applicants Outside Canada?
• It’s unusual that your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) number is visible in the tracker but you haven’t received the Passport Request (PPR). This could indicate:
• Your application is approved but pending final steps due to administrative delays.
• IRCC may be waiting for confirmation of your daughters’ statuses as part of the principal application process.
• There could be a communication or technical error in IRCC’s system.
What to do:
• Raise a Webform Inquiry:
• Use the webform to specifically inquire about the status of your PPR. Mention that the COPR number is already visible in the tracker and ask for clarification about the delay.
• Check Your Communication Settings:
• Ensure you’re checking the email inbox and spam/junk folders for the email associated with your application.

3. Can P2 for Your Daughters Progress Without You Landing in Canada?
• No, the principal applicant (you) must land first to activate the PR for dependents, whether they are in or outside Canada. IRCC will not finalize their PR process until you’ve completed the landing process.
• Your daughters may have received the P1 as they are inside Canada, but their P2 (Confirmation of Permanent Residence approval) will remain on hold until you land and activate your PR status.

4. Steps to Ensure Everything is on Track

• For Your Daughters’ P1:

• Resend the response following the guidelines above.

• Use the webform for additional follow-up

• For Your PPR:
• Use the webform to inquire about your application status and COPR.
• Consider contacting IRCC via phone (if possible) to escalate the situation and clarify any pending issues.
• Document Everything:
• Keep records of all communications (emails sent, webform submissions, etc.).
• Ensure that all UCI numbers and application numbers are referenced in every communication.
Thank you very much Miss bee for this very detailed response. You are a gift!
I will prepare as advised and revert if there is any more clarification needed or updates

Is there a link to a webform where I can both explain the issue and at the same time submit copies of my P1 response(Do you mean the email attachment?)?
The form I saw asked if I have documents to add to an existing application. I said no and I didn't get a link to upload my response. Should I have said yes?
I appreciate your response please

Hello @Miss bee
Please share your insights as i've heard that
Etobicoke office is one of the slowest visa office and if your file transfer in there, a further review is needed.
My PVO is Etobicoke and SVO is Sydney.
Does it mean that my file needs further review then?
Thanks

Hello @Miss bee
  1. I got the AOR yesterday (it's the only email confirming that my application for PR in Canada was received by IRCC, and it has my application number, but there's no letter attached). Can I use that email when I apply for BOWP (save the whole email as a PDF and then upload it), or does it have to be a letter?
  2. My nomination letter expired on November 24. Can I still use it when I apply for BOWP, or should I contact Ontario to extend the letter?

Hi,

A friend of mine got his application returned, but it doesn't show any specific reasons. It just says "This document is incomplete" for all the documents, like everything he uploaded was incomplete, which doesn't make sense. It looks like an error from IRCC to me. What should he do? I was thinking of re-uploading everything and sending a web form asking for clarification.

please @Miss bee and anyone facing a similar situation let me know your comments.

Thank you.

Yes, you can use the email with your Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) when applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP). However, the document must clearly show that your PR application has been received and include your application number. Since IRCC allows applicants to submit proof of their PR application as part of the BOWP requirements, saving the entire email as a PDF and uploading it should suffice. Ensure that the PDF is clear and complete. You can submit expired nomination certificate with your application .

Thank you.
It sounds like your friend’s application was likely returned due to a technical issue or a problem with the way the documents were uploaded or formatted.

1. Double-Check the Return Letter
Encourage your friend to carefully review the return letter or correspondence from IRCC. While it may seem vague, there might be clues indicating what went wrong (e.g., format, missing details, or upload errors).

2. Verify Document Completeness
• Ensure that all required documents are present and correctly formatted (e.g., PDF, within size limits, readable, and not password-protected).
• Cross-check the uploaded documents with the document checklist (relevant to the specific program).
• Confirm that documents like translations and affidavits are included if applicable.

3. Re-Submit the Application
Re-submit the entire application with the corrected and re-verified documents. Since the application was returned, IRCC treats it as though it was never submitted, meaning the process starts over.

4. Send a Web Form for Clarification
While re-submitting, your friend can send a web form to IRCC:
• Include the returned application number.
• Briefly explain the situation and request clarification on why the application was deemed incomplete.
• Attach a scanned copy of the return letter, if possible, for reference.
