I applied on 08Mar'23 and just gave my citizenship test on 14May'23. My BG was also marked complete on 20Apr'23.
So I'm guessing I could get the invite for oath within the next 6 months. So overall < 1 year?

I applied online. Paper applicatons timeline might be different.

It also seems like new online applications are processed quicker than the ones in the backlog. That's probably why the overall timeline is reflecting 2 years.

Thanks a lot for your comment! Yes I plan on applying at June end or July.

Also, have you travelled anywhere after applying for citizenship.

No. I haven't but I'm planning to travel this fall. My current passport is also expiring late fall. So I'm not sure and haven't figured out how to make it work!

Answer to 1st question here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...me-canadian-citizen/citizenship-ceremony.html 4 to 6 months after you pass the citizenship test.

You do not get to pick in person or online they book you for whatever they want, most people are online anyways and in rare instances, they may do it in person you can However reply to the email when you get it and ask if you can switch online to in-person, but that may delay your oath also explained in the same article above, and you can find these articles I the tracker under Citizenship ceremony.

Thanks for the detailed response @RefugeeHelp1. I believe the 4 to 6 months is based on all the applications as calculate by CIC. I was wondering based on the March applicants' experience, how long did it take before getting oath invite after test. The excel tracker sheet still does not have any record for oath invite. so was wondering if anyone in this group can already share their own experience regarding timeline for oath invite.

Thank you!

It's way too early for March 2023 applicants to be getting oath invites (unless one is going through urgent processing).

If you want to track post-test applications, you should probably look at March 2022 applicants who gave their tests last year. That said, it's difficult to compare, partly because there's a difference of one year, partly because of your processing office, and partly because the processing times vary widely between applicants from the same month, let alone between those who applied at different times.

It could be as short as 30 days or it could be more than 1 year but I think 4-6 months is a reasonable guess.

Do you think taking Oath online could speed things up compared to last year? Think this was introduced full scale only from 2023.

It kinda has, people see Oath invites in 3-month max compared to to the 4-6 months, but its also worth noting IRCC has started doing in-person again so as usual its hard to determine if it will slow down or make it faster, but IRCC is back in service standard and does not really have a ton of backlog so this group of new applicants will benefit from that and start to see full processing withing 6 month to 12 month of applying compared to people who waited 2 yrs

Hi everyone,

i have a question with the payments on applying online.

if we are selecting the e-certificate, do we still need to pay 75$ on the Citizenship Certificate (proof of citizenship)?

i wish all our applications are processed with ease.

Thank you

Proof of citizenship is different from a citizenship grant, you only pay the application fee

Actually, other way around. Oaths were online only, due to pandemic. Now it’s a mix of online and in person.

IRCC was almost back to service standard before the strike. The strike created a backlog so now it’s looking like end of summer before they are again almost back to service standard.

Exactly. And they aren’t there yet. Current posted processing times is 21 months.

LOL I will go based on IRCC and the IRCC minister already said last week only 100k application fell in a backlog due to the strike.

A backlog and service standard are defined differently, and the application in backlog from 2019-20-21- and 22 are the problem.

But IRCC has made a lot of investment and if you notice how people on this forum gets gets their OATH b4 12 months THAT IS SERVICE STANDARD not the old application stuck in their old system or way of processing anyways you can read here over 1M applications are in service standard https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...rate/mandate/stronger-immigration-system.html

Also not saying your wrong, but when you look at that tool you use, it is using all data, but for all case and purposes context is also important when talking about people who applied in 2022 and 2023 they will see application done in 12 months or less is my point

Someone in Feb'23 got invite for Oath ceremony in May. Not an urgent application. Wonder what that's all about.
