We shall see. I think they care about useful candidates now and not CEC/FSW/FST specific.

Whoever works in-demand occupation TEER category shall be invited. This is just my speculation, could be wrong.
hmm makes sense, but who knows. Gotta wait for some clarity. Also, that Kubir guy mentioned the bill C-19 categories 5th parliament sitting or something. Anyone knows if thats done?

According to Bill c 19 (can't find the link in my bookmarks now) that was passed, the minister has to announce and submit to Parliament (by the 5th sitting day of Parliament) information regarding what categories of candidates will be targeted for the next year, and how they decided on those categories.

5th sitting day of Parliament was on Feb 7th.

We haven't heard anything yet. It's so challenging and stressful to not know what is the best way forward, and what one should be focusing on, given IRCC's arbitrary changes any time.

I am about to graduate from a Master's from a Public University, am less than 30 and have a perfect IELTS score. But my NOC isn't "in-demand" even though I have a high-paying job in my field. It's so uncertain as to whether I'll even qualify for an ITA in the coming year. If they only invite in-demand NOCs, then there's no chance for other people who're nevertheless filling skill shortages in other areas of the economy.

Hoping all of us (All Programs) make it. Hang in there bud.

Canada:
Let's welcome record-breaking immigrants in the next two to three years!!!

Also Canada:
1. Let's stop the draw for a while!
2. Let's do a PNP-only draw every two weeks!
3. Let's reduce the number of ITA!
4. Let's do targeted draws!

I wonder how can they meet their record-breaking goal.

Exactly, it is so ironical and I feel this is the epitome of hypocrisy.

I wish all aspiring immigrants were united and not distributed in CEC/FSW/FST, and would talk to authorities to not stop doing draws like this. Even if they do, they should share some details. I am aware Canada owes us nothing but maybe some respect?

At the end of the day all programs have the same goal to live and work to make Canada better.

Honestly, spent the last year hiring in Canadian market. Very very less talent is present (which is an opportunity for those that are talented). But, honestly most students simply are wasting their time doing jobs that build no skills and are hoping for a CEC bailout - imho, it isn't going to work and poor career strategy overall. C-19 should hopefully make it clear.

Also, on the same note - IRCC has already stated that FSW is not to be retired after C-19. Instead C-19 would be a percentage of FSW and it would continue for rest of the year(at least).

They will meet their goals. I don't know why you have this impression that they won't. They can do 1-2 draws a month of 5,500 and they still can meet their goals for rest of the year. Remember 1 ITA can be more than 1 people, so we won't know how fast some of those levels plans for the year are met. They are going to ~70k ITAs and will easily meet their FSW goals. How many have they issued already so far? 14,500 ITAs already in 2 months (Feb hasn't ended yet!).

They have an obligation to provinces so they'll continue to process PNP specific draws. If someone is already here, it should be a common knowledge that we should use while stating everything else.

We also have a spike in Humanitarian immigration (Hong Kong, Ukraine) - so, so many options for IRCC here.

I think the PR strategy will work and will get them a PR through CEC but in the long game, they will have to think about how to sustain themselves as Canada is getting expensive each day, and as you mentioned that without skills the career strategy gets weaker.

Meanwhile, FSW candidates are gaining better skills in their home countries and will overtake the job market if they get in = Longer sustainability.

One thing that has always bothered me with the way this whole immigration thing is designed. Canada invites FST candidates ex Carpenter, Construction folks, etc- What's the guarantee that these folks will continue to work in the same discipline after getting in? Hence, the cycle keeps going on.
People enter on the basis of FST etc but never practice it. Thus, the demand will never go away. There needs to be developed a method of checks.\ otherwise what's the value of these programs.

I'm sorry but could you please share a source for this?
The fact that they might stop FSW as it currently is has been a constant source of fear for me.

I'd appreciate if you could share the source so I might feel a little bitless stressed.

Thanks

I think it has already worked to an extent, but like FSW it has saturated super fast. With millions of students with no meaningful skills, I'm not sure how they are going to make it? Canada for sure won't take in million a year and the current pace of enrolment is creating those volumes that should shortly show up in the pool.

People complaining about high CRS scores are in for a surprise. And honestly, Canada needs people that are in-demand e.g. carpenters, border agents, bankers, etc. Most students coming through these routes neither have aspirations to be one(I mean, look at the volume of MBAs or MS in Computer Science) or are skilled enough to be one.

I think this is not a new story. I think this is a story that is repeating itself. People used to pull the same thing in UK and AU, it failed after a certain time. I see people who spent 10 years in AU on student visas hoping for the same thing as students do in Canada. And to own what I say, as a FSW-O, I consider myself lucky to be invited. Most people think it is their right, but it is honestly a privilege to be considered. As immigration gets more stricter, less and less people will get lucky. But that's for the good of Canada at the end. Imagine not having medical staff in your city because all ITAs were issued to English speaking Software engineers, lol!

I do agree with you to a certain extent but tell me even after inviting the medical staff to work in Canada, the candidate chooses to not work in the same field as they did in the home country, then what happens?

This is what IRCC said (I'll find the other doc that listed FSW and C-19 to go on together later today too):
> In addition, it is important that Canada continues to offer some pathways to attract those with diverse skills, backgrounds and talent among those globally who may wish to emigrate to Canada without previous Canadian work or study experience.
Souce: https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/documents/pdf/english/media/m44-eng.pdf

FSW will be hard(as is the case with anything that reaches the hype cycle), but it is possible. Don't panic yet! :)
