Oh, my bad!!

For the expired passport, one needs to select the date of submission and needs to upload the expired passport's copy.

If submission is today then select today's date.
No worries bro

To understand you correctly, you mean on the expirey date of passport in the application form, i put the date of the submission righht??

Also how do you know this is the correct way, like did u confirm with IRCC, im asking so i can minimize risk of delay, is it also better to upload my driver license along with the expired passport?

Thank you

I know it because I helped a person to renew her work permit. Whatever I post in this forum, I share my personal experience. What I did not do, I do not answer.

I believe, there is no harm to upload the DL as a supporting document.

When we apply for the work permit extension for both refugee claimants and accepted refugees:
1. We go to the GCKey Portal
2. Go to the bottom page > Start an application > and click on "Apply to come to Canada"
3. In my case, no personal reference code, click on "visitor, study or work permit"
4. For questions: What would you like to do in Canada > Select Work > How long would you like to stay in Canada > Select Temporary less than 6 months, then answer all other questions
5. Not a US PR (most of us are not)
6. Find out if you are eligible to apply > Click on "Refugee Claimant" then Next button
7. Then select the situation that applies to you -- e.g. refugee claim in progress or accepted refugee or other situations
8. Then answer all other questions page by page
9. When asked if you have medical exam performed by IRCC authorized doctors in the past 12 months, click No, if you haven't had it (in my case I only did the medical exam paid by IRCC when making the refugee claim and is more than 12 months ago)
10. Then answer all other questions, and it will come to the page listing all your answers and then Next
11. You will see what documents you need to submit for a work permit extension: there's no medical exam required and no fee to be paid

I went through all the above to apply for my work permit extension as an accepted refugee. Hope it helps!
Please don't ne angry but I have a question. Please in the question 4b of how long do you want to stay in Canada. Why are we answering temporary less than 6 months. Since we are protected persons, are we not supposed to answer temporary more than 6 months. Please someone should help me understand.

Thank you so much for you kind help.
1. I am a refugee claimant and submitted my refugee claim to IRCC already in 2021, and already did and submitted Medial exam in 2021 to IRCC.
2. First work permit received in 2021 for 2 Years then renewed for 1 Year from a lawyer and he did not request any medical exam and now applying again myself for an extension from the online application.
I did select > Work > less than 6 months but still at the end showing "Proof of upfront medical exam (required)" in supporting documents section and If I select No for Medical then It says I cannot process for Work Permit this time.
The same happened to me and I just uploaded the medicals I did during the submission of my claim. My WP was approved in one month.

Thanks "TheClaimer" for your reply, I tried your steps and landed on the application package to apply for the " Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM5710) (required) " option, is this the right option to continue to extend work permit as a protected person. My first work permit will expire in two months and have I found the right option to proceed, your direction helped me to continue, please help me with the following questions:

I was checking my account (gckey) and saw an update.
Congrats!
I have a question if you can help share some insights.
My current work permit is expiring in Jan 2025 so I applied for my first work permit extension in the middle of August (since it showed 130+ processing days during that time). I have no updates after the Correspondence Letter, which came in mid-September. Would the extension be applied from the original expiry date or is there chances it comes earlier or later?

When you apply for a work permit extension, your newly issued work permit will start from the day it is approved. For example, if you applied for an extension in mid-August and your current permit expires in January 2025, if your extension is approved today, October 27, 2024, it will begin on this date and will likely be issued for a duration of two years.
