Does it get easier if the sponsored one will have enough money on a bank account
when being sponsored..? ::)
Nope. Don't stress about savings guys! It is NOT necessary. My partner had maybe 2000 CAD in the bank and I had about 1000 CAD in the bank. I wasn't working, he was, I'm the sponsor. Obviously if you have kids it should be a little more, but if you are staying with your parents and have demonstrated plans to search for jobs, I wouldn't worry. You will for sure be approved.

Don't stress about the money! I totally stressed before I sent in my application, but I was approved to sponsor right on the timeline stated by CIC.

hi sidkrose

I'm not in the same boat as everyone on here I have a great job. I am just interested in looking at the time lines. On the site 9 months your time line, you beat that up for sure. I love it :p I hope ours goes through in record time too. I miss my husband so much ;D

Did you all send a copy of your bank statements like savings and chequings? Sidkrose, I know you said we don't need to worry about that but wondering if you or other people sent it off.

@Lemondrop78, This is exactly what we sent for "financial proof":
- Bank statement from me and my partner
- his pay stub
- proof I was applying for jobs and was going to enrol in University
- letter from my parents (not notarized) saying that we could live with them and they would provide basic necessities should we have the need.

@Bondar, Yes we were very lucky. The Berlin office is notoriously fast though, if you've got a complete and straight forward app. Our application was only in Berlin for about 6 weeks before we were approved, but I even heard of faster timelines than that. Good luck! :)

Sidkrose, how many months of pay stubs did you send of your spouse's? and did you send a copy of your parents most recent tax info?

Just one month's pay stub (but it had YTD earnings and whatnot). We didn't send anything of my parent's, except for the letter. I forgot to mention that I also included an Option C from the year BEFORE the previous tax year, and a note saying why I didn't have the current one (Revenue Canada wasn't done there assessment for the one I should have had.)

I don't think it's necessary...Just explain to them why you don't have it, should be fine. Lots of people submit without an option C.

Nope, there is no income requirement for sponsors of spouses. You just have to show that you have a plan to support yourself without resorting to welfare. This can be proof of savings from you or your partner, proof of job searchers, proof of support from friends/family (you can live with them for a while, etc).

Income or lack thereof is not a barrier to sponsorship. I am an unemployed student, and as you can see on the left, I sponsored my partner.

pls tell me if i have reason to worry, i need the assurance: our situation is this:

i am a PR, landed in January 2011, came back to Phil. aftr 1 month, resumed my
job here, got married in June 2011. resigned in July frm my work coz they wanted to send me overseas for training which will result to a 2 yr bond with the company so i refused coz i already have tickets
to go back to Canada in January 2012. i wanted to rest anyways so i left. so i have no job
now, but as soon as i arrive in Canada (will be staying w/ relatives till i can afford to rent a place) im gonna be lookin for a job. savings= enough but not that huge

my hubby also left his job in October here in the phils and he's planning to just wait till his visa gets issued (which we expect around mid 2012) then get a job in canada when he arrives. with enough savings to live this through. we are considering it as a "long honeymoon" , an unpaid vacation.

Planning to submit our application on February 2012, hoping by that time i have a job already
in Canada, or if not, i know it wldnt be an issue.

do i have reasons to be worried that we are both out of job now? im planning to explain the circumstances, maybe show bank statements for our savings (which is just enough and not huge) ? and statement frm my relatives that they are wiling to take care of me until i can stand on my own two feet? and maybe evidences that im applying for a
job?

any thoughts pls? thank you very much!

All of these things are good. Especially showing that you have relatives to help you and evidence that you are applying for jobs. This will show that you are willing to do the hard work to support yourself. If you are planning to get further training or school or anything, you could also explain that, as it shows that you are driven to support yourself in the long run. Good luck :)

No student loans aren't considered as "money from the government" because you have to pay them back. I was on OSAP and I had a couple scholarships when we applied and I got approved.
