Does windsor or niagarafalls officer ask on local id as second ID (other than PR card)?
My alberta officer was asking for local id. My wife doesnt have valid local id as DL and health card expired and we moved out hence not sure how to handle if officer was asking on it.
Any tips?

You will be asked for second ID. Try showing the health card even though expired. Dont lie and also dont say it expired. They will request for another ID if required. If they dont accept it, may be passport should be good.

If you are showing passport be ready to show any toll receipts or tim hortons receipts to prove that you are inside Canada.

If showing second ID as passport will still make them ask on local id? what do you think.

"If you are showing passport be ready to show any toll receipts or tim hortons receipts to prove that you are inside Canada." You can tell them you are not living here but moved to US for employment.

@harirajmohan , what to tell at the land border crossing while traveling for Oath ceremony? Can we have IRCC ship the Oath certificate to a friend's address?

Good that you asked. Here is what happened:

Officer: Why are you coming. How come you are coming just to take oath and you are not residing here. When did you move out. etc etc.

So expect that some officer will question and delay you. So give enough time. Try to avoid traveling on same day.
I was sent inside for RO since officer was not happy even though i told that i was staying for 4 years and had stayed only 14 months outside.

In the secondary inspection, she was asking me about my stay period on when i landed, when i moved to canada, when i moved out etc. Then officer told she will check and come back and later she came back and asked about my commute (which was for few years) hence she asked if i had stayed inside Canada during pandemic and worked and i said i was inside working during pandemic. Then she said that it seems i am meeting since its less than 2 years outside etc. Then i was let go and she told some reason why i was sent inside etc for which i said that if i dont meet RO then i am not supposed to take oath which will be problem if i did later.

So just tell that truth about your travel with enough time between oath and travel time/date. Legally they cant deny but we should give them enough time to verify.
I was also thinking that i should have brought full travel log so that they can calculate/verify with theirs. I would have known, i would have brought it as i have 700+ entries.

At the border: Dont specify anything about any rule that it will allow you to apply for citizenship while outside or you have any right to enter or etc. Just answer what they asked and for some questions you dont need to answer for questions like "how do you come just for oath while you are outside" etc. Just tell that you applied while you were inside. No point in reminding anything about the rules as it will only backfire for us and at the end nothing different going to happen and you will let in which is what we want.

Got it. Do you see any issues coming back to the U.S. same day? If we have the certificate mailed to a friend? Or, minimum how many days should we plan to be in Canada?

There shouldnt be any issues as you just state what reason you travelled. It should be fine.
Certificate is a document hence it can be mailed. Even passports are allowed to be mailed(unlike few countries) hence mailing this document is a non-issue.
I am staying till 10th because my wife's oath is on 10th or else i would have returned on same day.
Mostly my certificate might reach my friend's address by 10th but cant wait for that and i am going to send him fedex label to send it to me.
My wife's certificate will go to po box hence my colleague will bring it to detroit.
