Hi everyone,

Thanks for your help over these past months. My wife is here visiting me in Canada for six days, and we are three months into our PR process. She wasn't issued a visitor record, but it wasn't made clear how long she can stay -- she has a return ticket for this Sunday, but could she stay here for longer and wait/visit with me?

A prompt answer would be helpful because we have to make this decision today!

Blessings!

No visitor record, and nothing written on the entry stamp means 6 months.

A month (well, you could technically do it the day before -- but a month is suggested) you can have her fill this out: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/visit/extend-stay.asp to extend her stay.

If you forget, and it's under 90 days since her status expired, you could do this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/validity/restoration.asp

Thank you for the quick and informative reply!

We are unable to find a literal stamp on her passport, which seems unusual. Does this ever happen? She was not given a visitor record, or really any indication about how long she would be able to stay -- so we are thinking about the 6 months too.

I believe we will have our COPR before those six months are up.

Np. They didn't stamp her passport at all on entry? If not, then yes 6 months.

She has the automatic 6 months, since there is not a stamp with a `must leave by' date.

As mentioned, if you haven't received the COPR at the end of the 180 days, just have her apply for a visitor extension.
