Thanks ONE2 KA4 for your reply and prayers, sorry forgot to mention CHC is HK, and currently the processing time is 15 months although about 4 months ago it was showing 7-13 months ( I think!!).

I am sorry to hear above about your spouse and I wish and pray she should recover quickly.

As Danny said we need to know the visa officer to find out the timeline. At this point I would say since the medical is already done which will be valid for 1 year from the date its done so leave as it is, I think no need to inform them about this at this stage, wait untill they ask for re-medical after 1 yrs. Things may get change she will be recovered and also she may get the visa before the medical expiry date. I pray for you.

Thanks bigmakdaddy for your reply.

If she gets her visa before medical expiry (which i doubt it now!!), then I think she should be ok. otherwise, we will be in trouble. Once you are stuck with CIC, You are stuck!!!! ( although in my case I wont blame them...

First of all sorry to hear about your wife brother. For your question, I am not 100% sure but I think it will effect your file with CHC as they will be concern that your wife will be using a lot of medical resources right after her medical benefit gets granted. Thats the reason every new comer has to wait 3 months for their medical benefits to kick in. If the medical wasn't fee in Canada (like USA) it wouldn't have mattered that much to them but since it is free, they will defenately be concerned. But again I am not sure about this but just wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks boasorte and so sorry to hear about your Mother in Law. I wish no one ever suffer from this beast. And as you said WE ARE ALL TERMINAL.....we all have to die one day, some sooner, some later!!! That's a reality of Nature, but sometime you are not ready at all. 25 years of age is too young.....for her!!!
she is 3rd stage of Colon Cancer. she is recovering well from her surgery and is now getting her chemo. just about in the middle of 12 rounds of Chemo (5th round next week)..
Again so sorry to hear about your mother in Law. Exercise exercise and keeping her active is the BEST for Cancer. I have my aunt stage 4 survivor for 7-8 years now. So yes, IT IS POSSIBLE . It all depends on LUCK and prayers, and also if its NOT the written Time to GO...

We are all terminal !

Cancer can only be considered terminal when all the given treatments don't work, and the cancer keeps growing and spreading to all over the body or when the doctors see that the treatments will only make the person suffer more without having a good outcome.

I hope your wife's cancer is one that is curable and I hope she gets better soon.

My mother in law also found out about this horrible disease last december and she has already been through radiation and last week started chemotherapy. So far she is ok.
She has lung cancer(stage 4/ it spread to her bones).

Thanks stethar for your reply and good words. I really appreciate it. This forum has become like my family!!! so much support, I never expected anything like That. GOD BLESS YOU ALL..

I though in family class one cannot be refused due to medical reasons, as long as the general population is not being endangered.
Be strong, cancer can be cured. I know, not always, but yes, this in in fact one very possible outcome. Do not become a slave to this disease. Studies show a positive and active approach to physical illness, especially cancer, can affect the outcome. Eat healthy, be active, be social, get some psychological support, professional, in groups and from family.
I wish you all the best. It's gonna be tough, but you will make it.

Thanks canadianwoman for your kind words, I am really not worried about her permanent residency. I just need her to be healthy and Cancer Free. we have a few options to live in different countries LUCKILY. but Canada is our best choice. only reason is best environment and very friendly people. ( although there are problems there regarding jobs/ Money). if she does not get her permanent residency, she can still come and stay with me for 6 months. her whole treatment started with an emergency surgery in January in China, all her treatment is in CHINESE LANGUAGE, so we do not want that to be changed or anything.

I'm sorry to hear your wife has cancer, but don't worry about her PR application. Spouses and partners are medical-demand exempt. That means that even if she has a disease, they will not refuse her PR for that. If she were a FSW applicant or an investor-class applicant, then yes, cancer would be a reason for refusal.
CIC lets in spouses and partners who have HIV; they will let in a spouse with cancer as well.

Thanks Toby for your reply.
Absolutely, there is nothing important than her health to me. she is getting her treatment in the best place in China. she had her surgery in January and now she is getting her chemo. even if she gets her PR, we are not going to treat her in CANADA. because all her treatment started in CHINA. although she is HK National and in CHINA, we are paying for her treatment Out of pocket and it will cost us so much that only few could think of, still we are not taking her HK.....where she would get some type of FREE treatment. we are very happy with where she is being treated right now. she will finish the chemo in August and after that they will monitor cancer for the next 2 years, i.e test after every 3 months....if we are lucky enough and she do not get recurrence of Cancer, after 2 years, she will get tested after every 6 months. we are not thinking of changing any doctor right now, as the Oncologist is very helpful and he knows everything about her cancer...

I am not sure where you are living, but if it is outside Canada, my main concern would be interrupting her treatment to come to Canada, where she would have to go to the back of the line, get re-diagnosed, and then start treatments again. Delays are serious when treating cancer. So, maybe consider finishing her treatments where you live now, before landing in Canada.

Thanks Love young for your reply and prayers.
best of luck with your application and sorry to hear about husband's health.

Not the case bigmakdaddy. The USA is just as concerned with having to pay for those that have a disease and will have to be taken care of long term. For that reason, they can deny you even if you don't have a contagious disease. This is why we are applying for myself to live in Canada because my husband has a genetic disease that may make him ineligible to live there and also because they would be concerned we wouldn't have the funds to support him. And that he would have to visit the hospital more than so many times a year. My husband has 8 medications he has to have everyday to live and two of those medications each cost $1,000 a piece in the USA and that isn't including the others, the visits to hospital for routine visits, equipment, etc. All of those which he is blessed to have taken care of under the provincial healthcare for him. Thank the Lord. This is a reason I applied here because for one Canada is a place I would love to raise our kids but also my husband wouldn't deserve to even have the chance of being turned down because of a medical condition he was born with. Sorry for the rambling but I just want to state that the USA is just as concerned about the cost of the health system for an potential immigrant.

husband2010: I am very sorry dear. This must be such a tough time for you and your family. I pray you find strength through this. I also hope you receive helpful answers to assist you. Praying for you both and that you receive a positive answer soon. :-*

I don't recall if anyone else mentioned this, Husband, but unless an applicant (for a spousal PR visa) has an infectious disease considered to be a threat to Canadians, he/she won't be barred from getting PR for medical reasons. So, by all means get her well, but keep the PR process going. If she needs a new medical because Hong Kong takes a long time to process applications, don't worry that her cancer will now be reported. It won't affect the application.

Good luck.
