I got notification that my file under CEC received on July 18, 2014, my work permit will going to expire on July 31 2015. I want to know after medical usually how much time it will take to complete whole procedure for permanent residency and should I send My passport for extension of work permit?

permit application does not require passport, visa does.

Same here, AOR recieved on May 6th 2014, so far nothing but "we recieved your application"

Called CIC, the lady told me my file is in Ottawa and it is a 20 month deadline and "everything is normal and nothing seems problematic", is this normal?

Did you have due date for second review ?
If you could share your experience, we might understand what is happening to "second review" applications
It is very unfair, that they have another line for second reviews and it is many months different with other applications, and the issues for second review might be something very minor issue, or a matter of VO's experience and etc.

How long usually to hear something back from 2nd review? My freaking application is in 2nd review due date since FEb 25 and i've heard nothing. Application received May 29, 2014 :-[ I coulda use the time to start working on LMIA to apply under EE...sign

Congratulation!!!.
By seeing the trend it seems who ever has got "Review required" in the GCMS notes they are getting their MR after 13 months. So keep the hopes high.
