Please help if you can :)

Right now I'm living with my common-law partner in Australia, and have been since June 2011. I'm a Canadian citizen in Australia on a working holiday visa.

So, I'm going home in June(on the day my visa expires) and he's staying in Australia until the papers go through, and then move to Canada(yay!).

My question, where and when should we send the application? I've read many posts about sending it to Mississauga, but I've also read posts about sending it to Sydney(au).

Thanks in advance!

After you have been living together continuously for 12 months, you can apply for common law partner visa. Since you have been only living together since June 2011, you need to wait until June 2012 (12 months later at least) to apply. Also, it is better if you apply after 13 or 14 months, because 12 months is minimum requirement for common law partner visa. You should also try to extend your visa for a while longer or your partner can possibly go to Canada with you as a visitor. You can also stay together in Canada while your partner is on visitor visa and apply outland. It will take about 6-7 months for the whole process. But in the case of inland application, it will be around 2 years. You must start collecting your documents and evidence of genuine relationship and evidence of living together now in advance (such as joint bank accounts, joint rental agreement, statement of payment of living expenses from your joint account and pictures of you together at different times and with friends and family and doing different activities.
best of luck! :)

Crazily, if you were to marry and the marriage were found genuine as part of processing as soon as you marry application could be submitted from outside Canada and not require waiting for C-L requirement of 1 year which shaves a couple of months off the waiting time of processing is married immediately and submitted immediately - also no need to wait this suggested additional 13 or 14 months.

Where does it say it's better or suggested to apply after13 or 14 months if common law? Or is this just your personal opinion?
Just wondering :)
