Depends on your inquiries.

What e-mail are you using?

Perhaps this was the reason, and they have a full right to do so.

Owl29, did you get an e-mail request? Did you confirm that you would be there for the date? How does it work, could you give me details?
So our time-line was this:

We send our application on 2015-11-06
My husband received AOR on 2015-12-25
My husband received SA on 2016-01-13

I received (in my personal email):
AOR from Warsaw on 2016-02-01
Request for interview on 2016-02-18

It said:

Email TITLE: Interview. (Your file number)

We refer to your application for a permanent resident status in Canada.

To allow this office to continue processing your application, it is necessary for you to attend an interview at the Embassy. Your scheduled interview will take place in Warsaw at XX:XX on XX March 2016.

Please note that this appointment will not be rescheduled. If you fail to appear on the date and time given above, we shall assume that you are either unable or unwilling to appear for an interview and will assess your application on the basis of available information.

You must report to the Immigration Receptionist at 08:45 hrs.

You should bring the following documents for your interview:
- additional proof of cohabitation/relationship to your sponsor (besides those already submitted), i.e. proof that you and sponsor have started to combine your financial affairs/assets, proof that you and sponsor resided together, proof of ongoing communication between you and your sponsor, e-mails, documents showing travel together, documents showing joint ownership of possessions, joint bank accounts, money transfers, and/or any other available proof of relationship.
- your original marriage certificate (with sworn translation into English or French)

An invitation to attend an interview DOES NOT GUARANTEE that an immigrant visa will be issued. Please do not dispose of any possessions or give up your employment until you have been issued an immigrant visa.

Please confirm your attendance at interview within 10 days from the date of this e-mail.

So, I confirmed by two emails and received automatically response, but I think, even if you do not confirm it, but show up on your interview day that would be OK, as long as you are present the time they want you to be present. I needed to fly from Canada to Warsaw for that, but it all turned good for us.

Has your wife received any email from CIC? If yes, then it will be quite tricky to proof that only this email hasn't come. If she didn't receive anything, then maybe it is possible to do something. It is quite automatic system, so the chances they entered her email wrong is quite low. I think when they scan the form with BAR CODE it automatically goes what you entered yourself into the system or I would assume that. It helps to eliminate spelling mistakes they might make if entering manually.

I would recommend to start preparing the new file,in case they refuse you anyway, you can just send new one right away. I think Warsaw is quite quick and to apply again would be quicker than going trough appeal, as your case is quite simple anyway and should be approved.

What I have realized now, that no matter if you think that you have a super strong case and you shouldn't be invited to interview, they might still choose your randomly and it is not the worst thing, as for straight forward cases they give COPR right away. They need to fill those interview slots with someone. I guess not a lot of fake relationships goes trough Warsaw, so real ones end up getting invited.

To be honest, after reading many threads, I think Warsaw office is one of the best and most efficient. Only good experience for me: speed, pleasant interview, etc.

Thank you Owl29 for you detailed example.
I order gcms notes today and see what happened.
If our e-mails to he embassy and MP intervention fails we will re-submit.
I have my boss in Canada intervening as well on the basis of my Job offer and the fact that I was suppose be available no later than 6 months after March 1st.

Cheers

Hi so we have got an email saying that my application is going to Warsaw VO instead of London as I assumed as I live in London for 7 yeras now

I attached guide for Western Europe as this is where I live and it said to look at where I live - but as they forwarded app to Warsaw VO I worry now that it will take ages as I didn't fill Eastern Europe guide in my app as I don't live in Poland anymore? Any ideas?
Was initially happy as it takes 11 months to go through Warsaw and 14 London but now Panicking it will take longer because I attached Western Europe guide!

You should have filled Eastern European package as your citizenship is polish.
What I would do now is: compare both guides and if some form is missing, send to warsaw with explanation letter. I would assune in general these forms are quite similar.
Or do nothing and if they are missing some documents they will probably send a request.
Most of the time they send it to the ofdice that belongs to your birth country.
I haven't lived in my country for many years, but I followed Eastern European guide.

Edit: I started to doubt now. Maybe try to call to CIC or write email to warsaw embassy. I personally filled application by my birth country, but on the other hand they should have returned application if it was wrongly filled :) I think either way you will be ok, just compare if you are missing some forms that are specific to our region.

Yes, but on the other hand there are requirements that if you were born in Eastern Europe you must provide certain documents. :)
Anyway, I think you will be ok. Just send them question.

I lived in UK too before coming to Canada, but filled Eastern European form and it was ok, so I am providing my answer through my experience :)

Also, try to create new topic about it, more people will see it and answer :)

Question:

does anybody has any knowlegde of how does the VO handle cases where the sponsored person has been ordered by the CBSA to leave the country for a period of 1 year as a punishment for staying in Canada without any visa or permit. Do they wait until the order of leave it expired or will process the application anyway and over-rule the CBSA's decision?

sorry, I cannot answer that :(

but I have a question of my own: so the Polish birth certificate (the full certificate, as required in the country specific guide), even though it's in Polish it can be also issued with an official annex by the same office which explains everything on the certificate - so please tell me, did you get your birth certificate translated (by a certified translator)? or did you just submit the full certificate with that annex?

also, another question: i recently changed my name (dropped the second part after the hyphen and returned to my maiden name), but that means that many of our bills will be for the old name, and some for the new/old name - do you think that will be a problem? do i need to explain this to cic, provide documents of name change etc?

thanks :)

As it is a required document it should have a certified and if you are sending a copy be notarized. Always as a rule explain everything.

I know, thanks - but my question is - did you get it translated? or did you submit it with the legend in English in the annex the office issues?
