CIC surely realises that with the new ETA requirements on March 15th, people are expected to show their PR cards or PRTD to board any plane back to Canada. If the long delays in processing new or replacement PR cards continues, the overseas Visa Centres will be totally overwhelmed with the huge increase in PRTD applications. They are just creating another problem elsewhere!

You always have to show ur PR card or PRTD when boarding the plane coming to Canada or any commercial carrier( bus , boat, ship Airplane).

So what has changed here?

We have never had to show our PR cards, just passports (visa exempt country). We have flown back to Canada numerous times, from US, and Europe, we were never asked at checking in or boarding for any evidence of PR status. We have only needed our PR cards at point of entry to Canada.

Was asked to send new photos anybody know what the time line is after sending the new photo . I will be sending them to CIC on Monday

got my PR card yesterday less than two month after landing. Roughly 50 days .

I was asked to send pictures as well After 3 months of waiting!! I am infuriated and no one can seem to tell me how long it will take to arrive now. I travel to the US weekly for work via YYZ. They recxomended I apply for travel permits which can take up to 6 weeks and require pictures for each one. So basically potentially another 1k in travel docs because they can't get their crap together!! I would how're love to know if anyone has had to send pics how long it took after. I was told it could be anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months!! Really???

Congrats, ur one of the lucky ones.
Lets see if people actually get it in 39/42 days, as they say on the website.

I just landed the other day so I'm just getting immersed in this PR Card stuff so bear with me... The CIC website says 39 days is the wait time currently. However it seems that most people are waiting 100+ days. Is the website just wrong or has the wait recently declined from 100+ to 39?

The posted time has come down over the last few weeks.

There have been some issue with the processing. They recently changed the card to a newer version and the migration to the new system had some glitches which caused delays.
On top of it, they didn't communicate the Picture size changes to people who were waiting for a while. Now these people are getting letters asking them to re submit the pictures.

Now there is a bunch of applicants who have waited a lot, but recent landed immigrants have received their P.R card in 54/55 days.

Hi,

Has anyone received their PR card today ?

Some one in one of the other threads got there PR in 39 days.

"i got my card in mail yesterday.

For those resubmitted photos, there's no timeline for the PR card. I am very annoying.....

I Agree, this system is not fair, but at least there is hope with the 39 day process.

Hi all,

Just like Hnamson1, I landed on Nov 25th and the border agents took my picture because my VO hadn't attached pictures with my COPR. Yesterday, I called CIC and was informed that my picture wasn't accepted by the scanner. I also have to travel to the U.S. for work in March and now clearly, I won't have my PR card by then.

Not being ungrateful, but CIC needs to open up their communication lines and do a better job of mentioning any changes as this is a waste of money and time for something that isn't even my fault. I am looking at the requirements for a travel document and it mentions that it is for PR's residing outside Canada which I am not. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

Also, the lady at CIC couldn't inform me how long it would take after I submitted new pictures. I also another friend who was told to take new pictures. Have they changed their printers or have the requirements changed because this is bizarre. Here we go - another couple of months with no updates!

They recently changed the Cards and new printers are in place for that. The transition didnt go well and they didnt communicate in advance on when people should start sending new pictures.

Now they are scrambling to get this right and asking people to send in the new pictures.
