ive got a ppr last july 11 and im so happy but the problem is my current employer here in kuwait doesnt want to give my pp unless i finish my resignation on september 15.then ill try and ill try but they refused to give it,so i decided to send an email to abu dhabi embassy for extension,do you think guys it will help.about sending email and ask dor extension,need advise please....

I think you have normally 60 days to submit your passport from the date of request. You seem to have a genuine reason. Try sending out an email to CPP Ottawa citing the reasons for your request for an extension. Also try to attach some proof like emails between you and your employer. Do you know that the passports have to be sent to CPP Ottawa for PR visa stamping and not the Canadian embassy in Dubai?

Me and my partner have been waiting for so long for our CoPR (after paying our final fee 12 weeks ago) that we're now completely abandoning our plan to move to Canada and we're moving to Australia instead. We will probably move to Canada in a year or two but I am utterly utterly crushed by the (lack of) result of our visa application, we've just been waiting around in England temporarily for the last 3 months without knowing if we can commit to staying or if we should move somewhere else.

The problem is that even though we're literally waiting for the CoPR to be sent to us we have no idea when it will happen.

Its getting pretty frustrating the way CIC and all this strike drama is being played out. Steve, any chance you have emailed CPP-ottawa and explained them your situation? Perhaps they might prioritize your application after knowing that you have been waiting for this long and on the brink of living in some other country.

Or perhaps im just dreaming. CIC just responds back with standard lines. Guess they have a special keyboard infront of their PCs. There are just few keys on that keyboard and each key sends a tempelated email.

Infoseeker, thanks for your reply. I am sure the strike has affected our application as we seemed to be doing so well with our process going very smoothly until just recently. It's especially frustrating as we're literally waiting for the CoPR now and there is nothing else to do on our application (as we were extremely thorough).

I emailed CPP-ottawa several weeks ago explaining our situation. The situation basically boils down to how I was living in NZ with my NZ partner but my work visa expired so we left for England, confident that our Canadian PR would come in any day after arriving (as we got Decision Made all the way back in March). So we've basically been in limbo for the last 3 months, unsure whether to commit to living in London or to keep waiting. So here we are, still waiting! We've been very very patient, but it just seems that we're unlucky.

CPP didn't reply to that email whatsoever and I emailed them just recently and they said they still hadn't sent the CoPR and that no precise timeframe could be provided.

I'd try the CIC call centre but I'm in the UK so it's no good to me and the info GCMS request takes too long for us (and isn't going to help at this point anyway).

Really not sure what to do. We're literally looking at flights to Australia right now, and the jeopardy is that if we move to Australia we simply won't move again. I'm pretty heartbroken as I still consider Canada as my (new) home. To come all this way..... and then drop it at the last second due to our application stalling at the very last step seems excessively cruel.
