This is a heads-up do not panic !!!!!

Who ever planning your trips and waiting for Passports here is the heads-up.... few people were lucky that they received the passports in 10 to 20 days... CEC received my passports on Oct 24 and still no sign of tracker activation. Sent 3 follow up emails to CEC and no response from them.

Frustrating thing is that they read your emails immediately after you send, but take a while to respond / never reply at all .

I could see from gcms that there were notes at the end of my file with date and time almost an hour after my emails were sent.

CEC replied my mail saying that it is quite impossible for them to send me back my passport in 10 days..

I think they are validating your travel dates that you had mentioned in the application.

good point eds1275,it could possibly be one of the factors why some get their passport back before others.

is your passport biometric or hand written?
also this could be one of the factors since hand written passport require more verification by immigration authorities due to the high rate of fraud they face.

its hand written...
my friend got passport back in 15 days.. his one was also hand written..

like i said earlier those are just what people in this forum guess could a cause of delay but we do not know a real facts unless there a cic insider in this forum who could shed some light lol

It seems they dump all passports in a big box and one officer comes, closes his eyes, and randomly picks one passport, that's why some people get in 6 days and some in 6 weeks. It is very random and frustrating.

My passport was sent out to Ottawa on 11/22, received by Ottawa on 11/25, and my tracker was activated today 12/02! was amazed by the speed....
