Dear All,

I have been to Canada in 2012 i was planning to visit Canada again and apparently the process for TRV has been changed. i wanted to apply using traditional methods (Canadian High Commission, London).

This biometric fee has caused confusion, i tried obtaining information from the high commission they couldnt provie me with any information i tried contacting VAC they refused to give any information as they only deal with application to them. so both parties are pointing fingers on each other and no one knows what to do and how to do.

I sent email to the high commission can i make a one bank draft / postal order of £103 containing biometric and processing fee. they had no answer to that. asked same question to VAC they couldnt answer.

after pursuing with high commission they sent me this reply.

Thank you for your enquiry.

As previously mentioned, it is not possible to apply directly to the High Commission when you are required to provide biometrics. You must apply on-line or through the VAC.

When you apply on-line, you may pay the initial processing fees through the application system and then pay the biometric fee when you visit the VAC. A bank draft to the Canadian Embassy is not an acceptable form of payment for either of these services.

For instructions on how to apply for a visa, please see: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/trv-apply_demande-vrt.aspx?view=d. if you are required to give biometrics please apply online or through the VAC. More information on these application processes can be found below:
Link to e-applications online: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/apply_online.asp
Link to the VFS Global Visa Application Center: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/UnitedKingdom/

so high commission clearly denying that they accept any application directly. well the information on the page which they have sent says

Citizens or persons legally admitted to these countries (that includes UK) may apply via these methods for temporary resident visas/permits:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/apply-how_demande-comment.aspx?lang=eng
(please visit the link to see the table.

* Visas, work permits and study permits are not issued the same day, even if submitted to our office in person. Please see processing times for details.

**Whether you apply online or directly to the visa office, if you need to give your biometrics you will have to go in person to a VAC to have your biometrics taken.

If you need to give your biometrics, please DO NOT mail in your application. Instead, you must apply online or in person at the nearest VAC.

i am confused according to the information one can apply to Canadian High Commission directly for TVR on Wednesday only. but the sentence in BOLD says different. and if one can apply how do you pay?? pay just the processing fee to the high commission and pay separately to VAC for biometric or you can make one bank draft/postal order for both "processing fee and biometric"

in the email reply from high commission they are also wrong as per the fee schedule mentioned in this link http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/fees-frais.aspx applications submitted in person can use postal order/bank draft as method of payment

ALL THIS IS VERY CONFUSING I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO APPLY NOW. i do not wish to apply through VAC or Online as i would like to see VO face to face.

ANY IDEAS??? ANY HELP???

1. Pretty straight forward, if you need biometrics you can apply on line, but you will still have to go to the VAC to have your biometrics taken.
2. You should note the following from http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=3&view=d

As of April 14, 2014, the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in London will only accept visa applications submitted online or through the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in London. Our Immigration Reception will no longer be open for any type of business such as submission of applications, documents or passports, or for any enquiry. Visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website for more information about how to apply.

3. If you submit on line, you have to pay by credit card.
4. As you require biometrics (I assume you do) you can't submit a bank draft on line, as your only choices are on line or at the VAC although if you mail the application to the VAC you can submit a postal money order, but you still have to attend for biometrics.

So that means before April 14, 2014 i can still apply directly to the High Commission of Canada in London...am i correct here??

How do i pay for the Fee related to Visa Processing and Biometric?? TVR £56 + £47 = £103 acceptable within high commission as bank draft / postal order ?? Ref >> http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/fees-frais.aspx or just the processing fee to High Commission and biometric fee to VAC when u visit them for biometric??

as per the following link http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/apply-how_demande-comment.aspx?lang=eng i should be able to apply directly to the high commission and yes you are correct i do need to give biometric.

i am confused with the information on both pages as it clearly states as well after April 14, 2014 Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in London will only accept visa applications submitted online or through the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in London. Our Immigration Reception will no longer be open for any type of business such as submission of applications, documents or passports, or for any enquiry.

1. No, you need biometrics so you can only apply on line or through the VAC. No in person application.

IS IT TRUE THAT ACCORDING TO SOME NEW REGULATION TRV CAN ONLY BE APPLIED FROM COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AND NOT COUNTRY OF STAY IF YOUR SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION IS IN PROCESS?

MY COUNTRY OF ORIGIN IS PAKISTAN AND I AM CURRENTLY ON A VISIT IN YEMEN. I WANT TO APPLY FOR TRV FROM YEMEN. IS THAT POSSIBLE?
