Hello,
I have been living in Nicaragua for 2 years, the majority of the time has been with a girl I met down here shortly after I moved.
We have been discussing going to Canada for the summer, to visit my family and see the country. Of course, I know that with Nicaraguas economical situation the government of Canada is very weary of visitors who continue to live in Canada illegally.
As far as she goes, she owns a house here which a few members of her family live in, namely her Grandmother, Cousin, and Niece. Her economic situation is not great by Canadian standards, but does have a bit more than $10,000 in the bank from a property she used to own but recently sold. We own a small business here together.
Clean police report and bill of health. My mother or father has said they can write a letter of recommendation.
We are both quite young, mid 20s.
I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes, but her English is quite poor, we communicate in Spanish.
On paper, I think a reasonable case can be made that there will be support for her in Canada and that she has a reason to return to her country. That being said, I know a number of people who have been in similar circumstances and have been denied.
If she were to be denied, it wouldn't be the end of the world, as we can always go somewhere else to vacation for 6 months, but it would be nice if I could be country.
