Visitor Visa Granted, Timing for Return Ticket for Spouse?

hi All

my fiancé and to be spouse has got the visitor visa and its valid until the expiry of the passport.

we are getting married in April and after that I would like her to accompany me to Canada.

I would like her to stay for the maximum validity of the visitor visa (6 months) after which she will return, we also have a genuine reason that her brothers marriage is in December 2015..

so my question is : what should be duration of the return ticket, should I book for 6 months and explain to officer ? or do I keep a short travel plan for my wife (after which I will still genuinely send her back) ?
in both cases I will stay true and honest to the ticket timing.

any suggestions of how this should be managed so CIC officer understands this?

Valid Visa and dated return ticket is enough,
You should be OK,
Just explain as you did here when she gets interviewed
by immigration officers at her entry to Canada.

She is eligible for visa extension after the visa has expired also,
so, if she wants to stay longer before heading home in December
you can consider that also, but make sure to change date of
the airplane ticket if she is granted the extension.

I am just wondering what happened with you when you travelled back with your wife? Did everything work out? What questions did the immigration officer ask? Also what country did you come from?

Since I have a similar scenario where my wife had a visitor visa prior to our marriage. I would like for her to accompany me back to Canada. I have purchased a return ticket for her as she must return home for a variety of reasons. My question is Would I be able to go through customs with her upon entry even though I am a Canadian citizen born and raised. If so what should I say to the officer at the border?

As long as you have a valid return ticket and are not signalling intentions of no return like too much luggage , all of your education, experience and other documents are with you or other such indications of a permanent t move you would be okay
For me , on landing we handed out passports and visas to officer, he asked how we know each other , I said we are married and I told her pr process is not complete yet so officer did not ask any other questions
We indicated the right amount of stay in our Cbsa form of about 178 days
He did not ask for return ticket proof as well

So I guess you guys should be okay

That's great news. My follow up question is did you fill out 1 CBSA declaration form for the both of you or 2 separate ones for each of you? Also when you entered with your wife did you begin the PR process already or you started the PR process after you both arrived?

We filled 2 separate forms and told officer that our residential address are diff so we have filled 2

My wife's medical was already done when we landed , application was submitted in canada

Hello,

I'm curious why did you have two seperate addresses? My wife is primarily coming to visit her sister and see what canada is like before coming over permanently. Can you elaborate on why you entered two addresses?

Well they had asked for residential address in the form and since my wife's residence is in india so I had a separate form
I did this to reaffirm her visitor status however you can also do one form, I am not sure if this will make a difference.

Okay now I understand. I thought you provided 2 addresses for where you were staying in Canada. You had two places of residence similar to me and my wife. So when they asked where will you be staying in Canada you shared the same address? The CBSA officer did not ask any other questions after that?

For us they did not ask where my wife will stay, I guess it was understood she will stay with me
